Looks pretty nice I have to say. I'm having a difficult time getting the font sizes right, normal 100% sizes are way too small at this DPI. If you scale up in Windows 10, all the Windows 10 stuff looks fine, but the legacy stuff (driver detail boxes etc) look fuzzy as shit. So too does Chrome. So I downloaded an app called Windows10 DPI Fix, that seems to have made it more like Windows 8 with much better scalable fonts.

Gaming is pretty epic, and watching a properly widescreen film is almost as good as being at the cinema.

Nice. If I didn't already have a triple screen setup I'd love to run 2 of them, don't really have the deskspace or see the point of running 3 though. Although it's tempting :d

I am severely tempted I must say. it's part of my upgrade path atm: PSU > GPU > Screen

I already have triples ( 3x27 ), it's kind of hard to justify more monitors when I have a vive order in.

I'm pretty much waiting for next gen gpu, maybe going from 8gb>16gb of ram as well as it seems like we're finally hitting the threshold of needing it for performance in some games.

Got a good deal on an iPad pro with my phone company and it is so much better than I imagined. I have the pencil also which although charging it via the pad is completely retarded (do not know what the designers were thinking) works like a dream.. *very happy*

I picked up a Jetboil Zip for wild camping and got to test it on a wild camp at the weekend - what a superb piece of kit; excellent for fast boiling of water for hot drinks and dried meals. Light and compact (all the bits store inside the mug), highly recommend for you cyclist people @TdC @Tom @Scouse

Yeah these are great. I got the coffee press accessory too and it all fits inside the mug.

Fibre broadband (tomorrow).
Told Sky BB I was leaving for another deal. Got unlimited Fibre for £10/month. They estimate I'll get 34 megladons! We'll see.

So with a wired connection to the router 37Mbps down and 8Mbps up, nice.
Wireless in another part of the house however, even close to my wireless booster 19Mbps down and 8Mbps up. Turns out their router is a bag of poo for wireless.

Dont know if you can do it. But with virgin i use their router as a modem only and connect a wireless router to it of my own.

I thought you said 'walk' for a minute then, I nearly left my house and boarded it up.

Yuck, I picked a TPlink VDSL thing and threw away my HomeHub, I posted it on this thread. I recommend it.

Tomorrow I go to B&Q to buy a sheet of MDF. The monitor is about 6 inches too close, giving me eye strain. I need to screw the MDF into the desk so I can push it further back (the stand is quite big).

Interesting stuff

More interesting stuff

Thanks chaps.
Tbh it's not too much of a problem so not sure if I can be arsed chucking £50 at it. I download most of my "data" on the PC which is wired. Most demand on the wireless is from Kodi casting to the TV from a tablet, which seems to be absolutely fine even on HD channels. I'll live with it for a bit and if it proves a problem I'll look into your suggestions, Ta muchly :)

Well the monitor was a bit too close to my face, so spend £200 on a stand, or bodge it?

bodge.jpg

Yeah, fuck spending that much money on something that'll never move. One scrap bit of skirting board and a few screws later...

I have joined the 21st Century and decided to replace the creaking old 5400 rpm laptop drive in my main machine with a shiny new Samsung 850 EVO SSD. Wanted a Velociraptor but they seem to have gone EOL and are now silly money on Amazon.

Next purchase - Das Keyboard :)

Took delivery of an Intel 5930K, a Samsung M.2 SSD, Corsair Dominator Platinum RAM and an Asus X99 Deluxe U3.1 mobo today.

Current rig draws near 600W under load. I wonder what will happen :)

problem temporarily solved by purchasing a Noctua NH-U12S cooler. It will fit well and does it's job admirably. in the mean while I will hassle Corsair.
