Conditions haven't been ideal but I've been trying to test out the D750 as best I can. This deer had no idea I was there until it heard the shutter. I should have waited for a better angle but I got excited and shot too soon. Story of my life :(

Purchased one to play with from Bestbuy at the weekend. Nice piece of tech. Have been playing around with the Watchmaker App and Facerepo for watch designs to put on it. Sending texts from Voice commands and testing the music control as well. Fun stuff :)

I had one on release and it was lots of fun.
If I could wear a watch every day I would, but it lost a lot of functionality while I am/was in hospital.

Not sure if you've seen the moto360 subreddit Hawkwind, but there's lots of links on there to copies of things like Omega, Rolex etc etc.
They have taken a few down but there are loads around, and equally some new innovative designs that are quite brilliant. Worth a look.

The face I have right now is this Longines on the right below. Works really well and has phone & watch battery indicator and he just added a stopwatch function.

Call me awesome but.....why don't they put a little solar panel on these watches like I have on my fantastic Casio? Why? WHY DON'T THEY DO THAT??

Cunts

I actually had one. The face of the was a small solar panel. I didn't catch on though because it was fundamentally shite.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00IKFAVXI/ref=sr_ph?ie=UTF8&qid=1426241710&sr=1&keywords=sony+smartband

Combine this with my SmartWatch 2 I'm pretty much turning into the Bionic Sony Man.

Still look less ridiculous than someone with an iWatch though :)

The SmartBand seems pretty useful though, monitors steps, sleep patterns, time spent in the car, all sorts except heart rate. From 4 days montitoring I can tell you I don't walk very much, sleep much and drive a lot. Thank God it doesn't monitor smoking....

Been noticing the same thing with the moto 360 even with walking the dog I'm managing less than 10k steps a day. When I didn't walk the dog, one day the Mrs does it, I managed only 3974 which seems low. I feel like a right lazy bastard now. :(

Would only extend battery not actually keep it powered unless you want to walk around with a solar panel cap to do it. How about using some thermo dynamic power system by tapping into your veins - the vampyr watch is born! Now that is pure genius <quickly files patent>

It's better than I thought it would be, it feels solid without feeling heavy and the metal barrelled fujinon lens is just exquisite. The electronic viewfinder blows my NEX-7 out of the water. I cannot wait to go and shoot with it this weekend.

How much are the lenses compared to the canon

Read a review of one yesterday, was like "I'm having that and plugging it into my 4k TV".

Then I saw it's a cool grand? Was like "errr, I'll wait".

Edit: just saw your spoiler, hahahaha :D

Edit edit: shouldn't this be in the nerdy awesome shit thread? :p

Edit edit edit edit: I moved this along with that one... Jup.

If you look at the benchmarks it's very confusing.

The R9 295x outperforms it in pretty much everything and is 50% cheaper, and 390x is just months away.
You'd have to be a mad apple infested type looney to even consider it.

If those "leaked" benchmarks have any truth to them, the 390X is going to be incredible. And significantly cheaper.

There were mumblings about AMD announcing at GDC (and what everybody thinks is the R9-390X was being used to power a Rift) but they are supposedly announcing at Computex in June.
Just to be clear, I saw a demonstration of Showdown running on the Oculus Rift Crescent Bay, being powered by an unannounced Radeon R9 flagship ultra-enthusiast product. Those words, in their exactness, were told to me officially, as in on the record, by AMD.

So here's a quick image with the Fujinon 18-55mm f/2.8-f/4 - can I just say, Fuji know how to make some tremendous glass. I took this at 18mm shot wide open at f/2.8 (normally, most lenses would suffer with softness, or chromatic aberrations at this setting) - the sharpness, detail, lack of coma / astigmatism at full aperture is prime-like. I'm so happy.

MOAR FUJINONS PLEASE.

PS, this is an average shot, just nipped out for something to test the lens - it looks like the image is squint, but it's not, it's an optical illusion of the shore line as the tide is out. I'll be back when the tide is in for a better image.

Do you still have your NEX-7? Can you show a comparison of pictures taken at the same time of the same scene using similar lens and settings?

Not just now, but I also don't have an equivalent lens, just the average Sony 16-50 kit lens which is f/3.5-f/5.6.

Could do that if you like.

Just another test tonight with the tide in, not as good without that bit of mist / fog, but still - awesome lens, great little camera.

Ok last one - don't want to spam the nerdy awesome shit thread. Went for a walk with the Fuji today. Tones are natural, micro contrast from the Fujinon is nice, sharpenss into the corners and frame edges is far superior to any kit lens I've used.

Processing is minimal, Provia simulation, slight tweak of colour temperature and standard sharpening.

Think I might need a new phone soon, as my original Z is showing all the hallmarks of finally breaking down after 2+ years of hammering. The GPS appears to be all over the place, it's gradually slowing down and the charging flap will no longer close, so it's time to consider putting it out to pasture.

Thing is tho, do I go for another Z3 to match my work phone, or hope it hangs on until the Z4 is release? S6 and M9 don't really hold much interest, so pop quiz folks, what do you do?

Wait for Z4, although it's rumoured to have a QHD display which could suggest a comprise on battery life. I'm having the same dilemma.

I was going to wait but a few sites are reporting it might not be out for another 6 months+ so went for the Z3 (which is a stonking phone)

I'm leaning towards the Z4 myself, as awesome as the Z3 is, I already have one for work, and not sure I could do two phones the same.

Although uninstalling FB Messenger has brought the Z back up to speed - stupid useless resource hog app bitch features!
