That's your main issueI don't like Nvidia
Yeah it's nothing more than preference based on previous experiences. I've been let down by Nvidia cards time and time again in one way or another and since switching I've not had a single issue. I know Nvidia are currently ruling the roost with the 980 but I'm hearing very positive things (most of it speculation) about AMD's R9-300 series so, time will tell. That's your main issueI am completely opposite I tried Radeon a few gens back and won't ever touch them again.
What card/CPU/Ram are you powering it with?
What size is it?
How much was it?
Where from?
Now that......that is a post of geek lord status. Well played sir.Nothing I run is GPU intensive, any games I want to play on omg hd I can run in 1080p without issue. Bought the 4k for non-gaming reasons. Most I've played so far are DAoC and TF2, TF2 on full 4k with everything up and DAoC in 1080p because the UI is shit. Otherwise they both run in 4K without any issues at all (Minor lag when loading into DAoC the first time, about it) - Haven't tried any of my AAA titles yet, nothing I really want to play.. Might load up Thief and see what happens. My mobo supports heavy OCing, the fans/coolers I use support fun OC too, just a lack of skill in my department.
4770K (3.6, dropped from 4.5 recently as it was causing me issues- Pre new monitor)
8GB Ripsaw (2133, down from a silly OC I did which nearly killed my RAM)
R9 290 Tri-X
28" (Yes, 28" I don't want to go higher for anything < ultrawide)
£450. If I ordered 3 days earlier it'd have been £420
Overclockers.
Initial impressions...
Nice desktop space for non-gaming things.
Video is very pretty. (For a TN panel, compared to my other one, shocking)
Eyes are still getting use to the space.
No notable ghosting or input lag at all.
Was very very very very very very very (x50000) tempted to buy the 34" Dell U3415W too, but for an extra £300 I can wait. Too many horror stories about UW monitors since the back end of last year.
I sit about 1ft away from my monitor (Face <- 1ft -> monitor) and everything is readable at 125 & 150% scaling. From my point of view it was a good buy. Am I saddened I didn't wait for the 34" Dell? A bit. But not enough to return the monitor. Was using a 1680x1050 monitor for 5 years before this, so a nice upgrade(From OCUK too none the less)
EDIT:
Yes. If you want to run everything on OMGAWESOME you probably need a new generation card or three. But for the real games people play, a single card is fine. I'm not monitoring my FPS as I can just drop my resolution and piss over most non-hardcore gamers anyway in terms of performance.
Am holding out for W10 and a few games to support 4K properly. When they do I'll either buy the next-next generation GPU (300 or 400 series at that point) or dump a 295X in. No rush
ALSO: I don't care for G/FreeSync as I DO NOT want to be limited to the GPU I can run. If I hit lag, I'll lower settings. If lowering settings doesn't work I'll upgrade my hardware. I understand why they're good for lower-end machines / GPUs and what they'll bring to the market. But till team green get their head out of their ass and let team-red actually license gSync tech for less than a £300 increase p/monitor (QQ) I'm not going to cry myself to sleep)
It's for his pen0r.As if @TdC's ass needs amplifying.![]()
...... The 1s and 0s get to my DAC (which is mounted on anti-vibration sorberthane) in a transient-optimised delta wave formation which really improves the soundstaging in the digital zone. Furthermore, cross-talk and voltage discoherence get removed entirely.......
