What card/CPU/Ram are you powering it with?
What size is it?
How much was it?
Where from?

I want to know what graphics card you're using too! I'm going to go for the Dell U3415W when the new revision has come out and got some reviews under its belt. It's "only" 3440x1440 so it's like half the pixels of 4k (59% to be precise) and over double the pixels (239%) of standard 1080p. It's not a very common res yet so there's not much benchmark info in graphics card reviews but based on where it falls with number of pixels against 1080p and 4k, I'd say my options are one R9-295x2 (it can handle everything, runs quiet because of watercooling BUT it would mean a new PSU and case so a very expensive choice), one R9-290X (Sapphire Vapor-X, great cooler, quieter and cooler than the HD7970 version which I currently have but the card itself might struggle to maintain masterrace framerates with everything ramped up), two R9-290s or wait to see what happens with the R9-300s later in the year (I don't like Nvidia).

I'm rediculously picky re framerates. I'm not sure that I could handle giving up even the minimal AA/AO/post processing I allow. Depending on the game I get between 50 and a kajillion FPS with my 970's in SLI on my 2560x1440 monitor. I think I would rather get the same rez monitor, but with Nvidia's GSYNC tech like the Acer XB270HU that everyone's wanking on. Tbh getting rid of screen stutter would be much more up my alley than m04r pixels.

That's your main issue ;) I am completely opposite I tried Radeon a few gens back and won't ever touch them again.
Yeah it's nothing more than preference based on previous experiences. I've been let down by Nvidia cards time and time again in one way or another and since switching I've not had a single issue. I know Nvidia are currently ruling the roost with the 980 but I'm hearing very positive things (most of it speculation) about AMD's R9-300 series so, time will tell.

Nothing I run is GPU intensive, any games I want to play on omg hd I can run in 1080p without issue. Bought the 4k for non-gaming reasons. Most I've played so far are DAoC and TF2, TF2 on full 4k with everything up and DAoC in 1080p because the UI is shit. Otherwise they both run in 4K without any issues at all (Minor lag when loading into DAoC the first time, about it) - Haven't tried any of my AAA titles yet, nothing I really want to play.. Might load up Thief and see what happens. My mobo supports heavy OCing, the fans/coolers I use support fun OC too, just a lack of skill in my department.

4770K (3.6, dropped from 4.5 recently as it was causing me issues- Pre new monitor)
8GB Ripsaw (2133, down from a silly OC I did which nearly killed my RAM)
R9 290 Tri-X
28" (Yes, 28" I don't want to go higher for anything < ultrawide)
£450. If I ordered 3 days earlier it'd have been £420
Overclockers.

Initial impressions...

Nice desktop space for non-gaming things.
Video is very pretty. (For a TN panel, compared to my other one, shocking)
Eyes are still getting use to the space.
No notable ghosting or input lag at all.
Was very very very very very very very (x50000) tempted to buy the 34" Dell U3415W too, but for an extra £300 I can wait. Too many horror stories about UW monitors since the back end of last year.

I sit about 1ft away from my monitor (Face <- 1ft -> monitor) and everything is readable at 125 & 150% scaling. From my point of view it was a good buy. Am I saddened I didn't wait for the 34" Dell? A bit. But not enough to return the monitor. Was using a 1680x1050 monitor for 5 years before this, so a nice upgrade :) (From OCUK too none the less)

EDIT:

Yes. If you want to run everything on OMGAWESOME you probably need a new generation card or three. But for the real games people play, a single card is fine. I'm not monitoring my FPS as I can just drop my resolution and piss over most non-hardcore gamers anyway in terms of performance.

Am holding out for W10 and a few games to support 4K properly. When they do I'll either buy the next-next generation GPU (300 or 400 series at that point) or dump a 295X in. No rush :)

ALSO: I don't care for G/FreeSync as I DO NOT want to be limited to the GPU I can run. If I hit lag, I'll lower settings. If lowering settings doesn't work I'll upgrade my hardware. I understand why they're good for lower-end machines / GPUs and what they'll bring to the market. But till team green get their head out of their ass and let team-red actually license gSync tech for less than a £300 increase p/monitor (QQ) I'm not going to cry myself to sleep)

I'm getting a stupendous deal on it or I'd never do it. Thing's well over the edge of the "this is rediculous" border 0_o

Ah proper high-end audio gear. You'll be needing some £1k cables to go with it then Sir!

I don't actually believe in high-end cables. I've dabbled in them, but frankly I doubt I could hear what's better in a high-end cable over the sound of my wallet screaming.

A friend puts special damping stickers on his 200 euro fuses and claims he can hear the difference. His set sounds awesome. Those stickers might help a little, but I think the fact his individual components are really really good helps the most :)

£500 gold plated optical cable, best money I've ever spent to be honest. The 1s and 0s get to my DAC (which is mounted on anti-vibration sorberthane) in a transient-optimised delta wave formation which really improves the soundstaging in the digital zone. Furthermore, cross-talk and voltage discoherence get removed entirely so it's like Oculus Rift, but for your ears - a totally immersive experience that not even a silver plated, diamond tipped optical cable would give you.

Massive, underperforming lenses though for Sony, that's why Fuji and Oly rock - superb lens lineup

I did notice the lenses. I also had that 12-45 f2.8 in my hand. it's as big as the 7-14 f4 panny!

Aye. Go to f/2.8 and the size, weight and price rockets.

Sony need better lenses, that's why I want to replace my NEX7, just a woeful lens lineup with no sign of improvement after years.

Bah screen not big enough hehe

Was looking for something lighter then the GT70 I have now. They don't do 17" 4K panels yet, too much of a niche market unfortunately. If they had a 17 with 4k I would have ordered that.

Tell me you hate Plex and I will rim you, I don't even care that your anus is all sweaty because of where you live. You could be the anti-cally that I have been looking for.

Just fucking shit myself, proper eyes popped out my head shit myself, why? My daughter has left her pink walkie talkies turned on and they have picked up some bloke shouting "HELLO HELLO HELLO" in my front room.
