Didn't show the effort required to get to the top of the hill to go down it that fast hehe. And to my mind just cause you don't have a speedo or can get prosecuted you should be around the speed limit. And the amount of time you spent in the middle of the road was stupid. Also having to lockup your wheels to get round the van or stop at the cross junction just showed how irresponsible cycle riders are.

This entire post shows what the average person knows about cycling - fuck all.

Both of you should stop generalizing. Let's just say that that clip of speeding through residential areas showed dangerous irresponsibility. See here.

Put it this way, if a car pulls out as they don't expect you to be doing 48 in a 30, there will only be one loser.

Out of town I'd say fill your boots, in a residential area, no.

If I come the opposite way and clip you with my wing mirror when you are in the centre of the road. Who will come off worse? And who will be blamed?

Whats wrong in whats said here? Out of interest AFAIK there's nothing factually incorrect in Moriaths statement?

[edit] No i sit corrected after a bit of research. Cyclists can be fined/have points on their car license for 'dangerous cycling' but not for speeding unless its in a royal park or they mount a curb.

What dangerous cycling is however is not defined, so ends up up to a judge...bit woolly.

Don't think I said he could be fined for speeding. Just that it was too fast for the built up area and ngerously close to the middle of the road when in the country part.

It's ok, the rules of the road don't apply to cyclists. Things like red lights, speed limits, don't cycle on the pavement, don't pass on the left - all seem entirely optional when you're on a bike - round here anyway.

Obviously you don't realise that remaining near the centre of the road gives you better sightlines around the corners, a skill taught in advanced driving courses (which I've taken). But if you'd rather I did 47mph in the gutter then I'm afraid you'll always be disappointed.

As I said, you don't know what you're talking about.

Yeah, because 27mph in a 30mph zone is "speeding". lol.

I'm not sure where in that post I've suggested that I do pass on the inside? Typically if someone is in the wrong lane I will give them a quick flash of the lights to let them know I am there (in accordance with the Highway Code), or indicate right (which seems to work a charm).

Still, well stalked!

Doesn't matter. If they're 1mph under the speed limit then they're driving quite legally and can only be overtaken with a 1mph speed differential.

Which is a very silly thing for me to say, but that's the kind of thing you'll have to put up with when you say silly things yourself.

In which case I apologies as I was under the impression it was 47 in a 30, which is :)

Ah see, causing an obstruction by not doing the speed limit, you'd fail yourdriving test for that.

If they didn't fail you for turning up on a bike of course :)

Bought a new laptop to replace my aging 2010 MBA (2GB RAM), a nice Lenova Yogo Pro 2 i7 with 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD for 750 squids from John Lewis. Surprisingly this is the first windows based laptop I have ever used where the touchpad actually works. Oh and it has quad HD resolution so I now wear binoculars instead of glasses (unless I alter the resolution).

Nope. I'm a dizzy fucker but I was just joining in the rules of the road rant.

@Deebs lovely poota chum and that sounds bloody cheap.
Thanks it really is, love it, the yogo 2 pro is more powerful than the yogo 3 pro except the wifi module.... but I can live with 2.4ghz for a few years.
