I just bought this TV last week for my living room (hah - I don't like big TVs). So far I love it. It's a cracking TV for just over 300 quid.

There are some cracking deals out there for the (what is now considered) smaller TV's. I got a Panasonic 32" CRT about 15yrs ago and it cost over £1000

I paid just over £850 back in the summer for my current Panasonic 55". That was with a world cup cashback deal and £100 off from the place I got it

Aye I bought a 32 inch cry when I moved into this house about then with a dvd player was a little less than a grand. Seen panny screens 42 inch for around 300 quid now. Shame they don't make plasmas any more. Keeping hold of my last gen panny plasma for as long as I can.

Playing some Aarkage Legacy last night when my rigs PSU (CoolerMaster Silent Pro Gold 1000W) died with a puff of smoke. Replacement arriving around 6pm local time is a Corsair AX1200i 80 Plus Platinum. Only had the option of two at short notice and not going CoolerMaster again for a while, the one that blew was only 18 month old :(

@Hawkwind send it back -

1. Warranty Length
All products from Cooler Master at least carry 1 year warranty from the date of purchase, with the exception of power supply units which carry a 2-5year warranty. If no proof of purchase can be presented upon request, Cooler Master cannot be held responsible for warranty service.

May as well get another and have it as a spare.

That's the PSU i'm going to get when I upgrade my pc again later this year, Currently have two Corsair PSU's and have no issues with either, but then I have a Coolermaster PSU in another PC and that is fine too. I would have sung Corsair's praises quite a lot up until a year ago, when they lost their shine for a duff K95 keyboard.

As far as I'm concerned, Corsair are the best for PSUs and RAM. They have spread themselves a bit thin in their other areas imo and it's showing with shoddy products (keyboards, mice, speakers etc). That said, even the most demanding SLI or Crossfire (2x) box won't need more than the AX860i but whatever floats your boat (in fact you're just as well going for the AX860 without the Corsair Link stuff unless that's important to you).

So, put the new PSU in (very nice unit) and found that one of the EVGA GTX780 in slot 2 is buggered as well. Already have agreement from EVGA to RMA it after explaining the issue. Should get a replacement in a week to 10 days. Cost me 40 GBP to send it back via DHL but better than 500-600 USD to buy a new one.

@Trem Thanks for the links on Cooler master, I will start the RMA process on that as well.

Quite amazed that both PSU and Graphics Card smell of burnt components. Thought the design would have prevented any surges on PSU side caused by Graphics Card. Regardless PC is up and running albeit on 2 screens only.

Nice unit - had one minor issue with the modular PCI-E Cables meant for graphics cards, the ones that split to a 8 + 6 on the Card side. There were two of these in the box. When I powered up it, 1 GTX 780 the PC would not start, removed the 8 pin from the rearmost connector on the card and it started. Then swapped out the cables for single PSU to 8 pin and PSU to 6 pin (both 6+2 config) and everything was fine. Seemed the PSU did not like the surge of both PCI-E on one PSU output. Not a big issue just means you have two more cables, but at least they they are the flat type and not the thick sleeved ones.

The Corsair Link software is very nice for OCérs and the 7 year warranty is reassuring.

I bought one of these HP probooks at Chrimbo for the kids to do homework.

For the money (365 quid after cashback/discounts), seems like a great deal for a 17 inch core i5 lappy. The specs wont win any competitions, but it feels like quality and it certainly seems to be popular with the kids. If I can figure out how to migrate the OS, I might buy an SSD to put in the DVD bay.

You keep your phone in it? ;)

Also link no workie, pics or gtfo, etc.
Ah didn't take them long to take it off the website

It has auto lights, washers, bi xenon following lights, sat nav, traffic alerts, dab radio, funky button hand brake that I never seen before no handle thing. 18 inch alloys and lowered suspension.

Basically it's end of line model that the threw the options pack at cause the new model comes out this year.

This one of the others they have in stock

Has anybody looked at electric cars?
I'm swooned over Tesla's for ages, but cant afford one until the Model 3 comes out. But I'll need a car in the next year and a half and keep looking at the Leaf and Golf-e. Both have ranges that are *just* shy of what I need (100 mile round trip communte) or else I'd have to charge at work somehow.
If I lived closer to work then it as far as I can see would be a no brainer. I love how Nissan will loan you a car free if you need to go long distance, ie visit rellies etc. The Tesla would be perfect as plenty of range, and then the supercharges for long trips, but I guess the fast charge points are pretty much everywhere now.
So damn tempting!

Ford have a new long range EV coming out as the Chevrolet Bolt with a 200mile+ range, to contend with the Tesla model 3.

Really until the Model 3 and the Bolt come out, not much point unless you can get a good tax dodge in.

Would expect both to be £30k+.

Just in range until you get stuck in a traffic jam and have to turn all the electrics off and sit freezing in your car lol

Just electric is stupid unless you live in the city where you can charge between journeys.

A hybrid would be your best Eco call atm.

Must admit EV's don't interest me in the slightest, I find them a bit of a technological dead end if I'm honest, but my sister has bought a Leaf. Well, I say bought a Leaf, Nissan threw lots of money and incentives at her to take one on. She seems to like it, but I can tell you you won;t get near 100 miles out of a (14 hour!) charge. Try 70 if you have a following wind and don't use any of the toys. It's fairly quick 0-30, glacially slow after that.

I'll stick to my lovely naturally aspirated straight 6 thanks :)

You could look at the BMW i3 range extender, that would be perfect for you. I really like the idea of electric for our 2nd car and tried a normal i3 last year. It is a blast to drive, great torque always available and good road manners too. If you can get a road test do it just for fun.

You wouldn't have enough time to charge it between runs turning it around each day hehe. Bet your leccy Bill goes up a bit too.

Yeah fair enough, will have a loot at the i3 range thing RB, cheers.

Thing is both wife and I drive 100 mile commutes each day, so when you spend £400+ on diesel a month, and £250 on car finance, suddenly, the £650-£700 mark of financing a Tesla S and paying £60 extra electric a month looks a lot closer. Compared to a Yaris, having things like adaptive cruise and lane holding (both Tesla and Leaf I think) seem pretty nice.

Move closer to work. Lol. I did 110 miles commute for about five months. Never again. Wastes too much life in a car.

We're both trainee doctors, as part of your training you rotate through hospitals in a deanery. Sadly, the Norfolk deanery goes from Kings Lynn, Colchester, Cambridge, Peterborough to Welwyn.
Although we're at a hospital for a year at a time, we can in theory rotate to any of those, and we dont want to move each year, especially as its the exception rather than the norm that we're in the same hospital.
ie next year I will be in Norwich then the year after Kings Lynn.

My wife got a new Yaris about 13 months ago and is at nearly 55k miles already.

I don't want to be under Dr tilda when he qualifies. Lol. Traffic is different round Norfolk than it is around London so it's not so stressful driving. However 2-3 hours in a car every day seems like a nightmare to me.

When you're decelerating down a motorway sliproad, perhaps. But in ordinary driving there's no way you get that mpg.

Errr, would it make a difference with the climate / roads in Spain? I actually do get close to that ( 4.4 to 4.6 l / 100km which is around 65mpg)

"close to that" - there is absolutely no way in hell you get 65mpg from a 2 litre diesel Passat. I guarantee it. Fill it to the brim with fuel, run it until the light comes on, repeat a few times. Do your own calculations (fuel computers are rarely accurate) and you'll find your real fuel economy is more like 70-80% of the official figures. That's because the official fuel consumption figures are calculated on a rolling road inside a building, with no air resistance to worry about.
