lies, my Skyrim ENB settings will make such a card cry for it's mummy easy!

I just realised that I have no graphically demanding games installed. Last game I bought but couldn't play due to GFX deficiency was The Witcher 2.... so that's being downloaded while I'm romping through Wasteland 2.

yeah chumlar. ENB's are frankly ridiculously ott anyway. they're made that way after all! your card will handle any new game for a good while, and with the Maxwell tech it uses will likely be a bit cooler and more power efficient as well.

I love it when you talk dirty.

This is from a raidz2 zpool with 2 vdevs:
Code:
$ dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=1G count=1
1+0 records in
1+0 records out
1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 1.89651 s, 566 MB/s

and this is from the raidz2 pool with 1 vdev:
Code:
$ dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=1G count=1
1+0 records in
1+0 records out
1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 3.57389 s, 300 MB/s

and from my home folder (on an SSD):
Code:
$ dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=1G count=1 oflag=direct
1+0 records in
1+0 records out
1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 2.29353 s, 468 MB/s

If I had gajillions of monies I would just have a rack filled with 4u 24-bay cases with 4x6 disk raidz2 arrays in each, all in one zpool. Multiple vdevs in one zpool is so much swifter.

indeed :) I'd love to implement a multi-tier storage idea, with another RAID card and, say, oh 4 256GB Sammy 850's, and use that as a hot drive. Will max out the PCIe X4 under optimal conditions, which will likely cause sexwee :D

Plextor, yay! They used to be the dogs bollocks for things years ago and I didn't realise they still made stuff. Are they still top notch? How much was that bad boy @TdC?

I still yearn for my Plextor SCSI cd burner which was the only one that worked right with Clone cd :D

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tefal-Actif...e=UTF8&qid=1418597857&sr=1-1&keywords=actifry

Just ordered an actifry from Amazon as it was 110 quid cheaper. £89 instead of £199. Got free prime trial for delivery too. Hehe win :)

We have one, they are ok, the chips don't taste like they would if they were properly fried but they are a thousand times better than oven chips. The trick is to cut your potatoes up then rinse the fuck out of them to remove all the starch *then* (are you following?) really dry them before putting them in the Actifry, use tea towels then kitchen towels or just leave them to air dry for a while.

I can see why people rate mechanical keyboards now. I chose the Cherry MX Browns, though I may get a Red model for work.

How noisy is it? Looks nice btw.

Brown are the "quiet click" keys but I wouldn't recommend for an office, they are still quite audible. I would probably annoy my neighbours with excessive typing :) Red & Black are the silent versions.

Case was £79 including delivery
Desk was £150 (some build yourself MDF thing) big enough to add a 3rd monitor if I want or plenty big for a single 4k.

Tres Bon. Not too expensive for a nice case.

1TB external drive, amazing how cheap they are now to when they first came out. On that note, I'm planning on getting a larger SSD in a few months once the price drops a little more.

This isn't anything that people here will rush out and buy, but I recently found someone who makes some very funky cables for television people.

http://locationsoundcables.com/

I ordered a couple. This is an AES digital cable which takes a 2-channel digital output from my audio mixer, for feeding to a camera (most can't take digital but I wanted the option for those that can). It's only short because it connects to a multipin umbilical extension cable not in this picture. The yellow bit is an audio return from the camera, so I can check the connection is sound.

This goes at the other end of that unseen umbilical cable. The XLR plugs are modified, I don't know how he does it but it's very funky. The yellow return cable goes into the camera's headphone socket.

I love electronics wizards. I took one of my amps to one once. It was a great experience. He pulled the wire diagram for it out of some arcane filing cabinet, discovered he knew the guy who had designed it in 1980 (!!), called him on the phone (!!!) and told him he was an idiot (!!!!). Then they started talking about ohms and volts, laughing at random points in the sentences, while my guy pulled bits of electronics out of my amp and threw them in a dustbin 0_o
