Ahh, bit of a problem assessing its performance - I'm only using it for the telly - there are no games on that pc - tbh, I went for the 750 because its very cool running (dont want the fan blasting away while I'm watching me telly) and because I am expecting to have to upgrade the whole pc shortly as its 8 years old. I might get the chance to run some Cuda transcodes though and compare with my GTX 460. I thought it was a pretty good price though - it was £107 from overclockers, Ti version 2Mb RAM - seemed like good value.

not bad indeed. That's something I'd certainly consider for my uber case. I have a tonne of fans in there and am looking for a way to kind of tone it down a bit. My current gfx card is noisy as hell, but my water cooling makes no noise at all once it's stabilized itself.

It is awesome, got it hooked up to a pair of Monitor Audio Bronze BX2, the only issue I have had has been down to DLNA streaming from my FreeNas server. I think that it is down to the DNLA server on FreeNas. Apart from that the FM, DAB radio works fine, internet radio works fine, CD works fine etc.

Took me a few months but I bought one this morning as my existing system finally showed some very minor signs of giving up.

Ahhhh....pity this, it was a bit noisy under idle - unpleasant droning whine associated with the fan - so I've RMA'd it

Just bought a samsung SSD 840 PRO 256gig to install Windows 8.1 Enterprise on. So far I am loving it but I did replace that Metro wank with a standard start menu. Also got meself a nice Sandisk Extreme 32gb USB3 stick to play with.

Fuck, so many things to reinstall, didn't want to do an inplace upgrade as I have a lot of shit on this PC.

I have both that SSD, and that USB stick is the best one I have ever owned it is so fast compared to other other "USB 3" sticks.

I'm going to invest in the new Sony a6000 - the on-chip phase detection autofocus is of DSLR like quality minus the bulk of a huge camera.

What do you make of that @TdC ? 24 megapixels, on-chip PDAF and teeny!

Getting one of these next week :D was having a butchers at one today in Curry's, fantastic picture, looked far more natural than the Korean efforts alongside it.

Hopefully going to get a Soundbase at the same time, heard good things about the Cambridge Audio one, may have to get myself to Richer Sounds for a listen.

Isn't it a Korean panel in the Sony anyway?

Think it's AUO in the 50W829, Sony are trying to steer away from Samsung panels, due to the amount of Sony tech Samsung seem to end up with when they work together.

Looked pretty impressive whoever makes the panel, plus the panel is only a small part of the equation, the software driving it makes a big difference too, and thats where I prefer the Japanese pursuit of realism, rather than the dayglo look our Korean friends tend to go for.

A quick Google suggests the majority of Sony's panels since 2012 are LG. With exceptions based on the size as there may only be one company making 70 inch screens ect.

The soundbase idea may have to wait, my PS3 has just died :(

RIP 2008 - 2014 :(

Very tempting, got a few PS3 titles I still want to finish off first though (Last of Us, finish GT6, God of War:Ascension etc etc), so probably just going to get a 2nd hand Slim (the SuperSlim is fairly nasty imo)

Where does the best warranty on 2nd hand consoles?

tbfh most places that do pre-owned and what they charge, you're better off buying a new slim. If you want a dirt cheap one you need to go ebay or buy someone elses from a pawn shop imho

@Big G my mate is wanking all over the Canon Powershot GX1 MkII. I couldn't go for that myself as I have a thing for interchanable lenses but hey ho :)

Can't be doing with the new Super Slim as it looks a bit cheap and nasty :( Supposed to have a fairly noisy BD drive too, and as it's used in the living room for Netflix, Blurays etc I'd like to keep it as quiet as possible.

After my cry for help on Facebook last night someone I used to work with has offered a 320Gb Slim for £125 with 3 games (including Ghosts), so I think I shall take him up on that. Should be able to still get the TV/Soundbase too :D

My super slim is silent and excellent... until you put a disk in it. It is so noisy I bought The Last of Us again off PSN just so I could play it without the diesel helicopter sound.

Never had a noise issue with my super slim but now that you've all pointed it out I'm sure it will get right on my tits. Agree with Bodhi though, it's an ugly piece of shit. That's why I've hidden it.

The BDs have always been noisy on PS3 - I only really buy my games from the store now too. Although I use headphones with mine so don't really hear much anyway.
