Just because you claim to have IQ dont have to mean you are smart in every single way. You might have a great sense of logic or understanding. Hell even people who learns fast are considered intelligent.

IQ dont mean squat if you dont have a basic social competence and understanding.

so, so far on this 1 thread on this one forum we have 2 people who are in the top 5% of the worlds pop and are considered genius.. anyone else? :D

<---- 137 (I think that puts me in the "i can just write my name" category). Did one of them online tests to see, prolly not accurate as sometimes i do actually have trouble writing my name. Lol signed a clients visitors book the other day witht he name "Ging" accidently. Fortunately i was the only fat ginger bloke in the place so they knew it was me.

a good whine (is not a fine wine)

You are all such whiners, if the gm's dont post, we all complain that we got no info, if they do post, we complain that they should stop posting and work on getting the servers up, cus yeah, it takes the whole of 10 seconds for poor Requiel to post a post... <sigh> Give the poor guys at Goa a break! I'm sure they are doing their best.

That's impossible KitCat. Remember that the people at GOA are busy eating cheese and doing absolutely nothing, along withdoing their best to waste our subscription money on dl of pr0n over their workline.

GOA has absolutely no intention of doing something positive for the community, they're only running this game to piss off as much people as possible. Additionally, they can't wait till the last person leaves the servers so they can finally have a break from all the nice persons posting positive comments about the French, OT, GOA, Mythic, Bainshees, Warlocks and the other people on the forums.

GoA are doing something, they are waiting for Mythic to get into work, as European servers are not as high a priority as US servers for them, i cant remember the last time the US servers where down for nearly 24 hours.

I know they go down after patches but not for 24 hours, seems to me that mythic will keep there people working late to sort out US problems but not bother for euro ones..

Just wondering, As i am 99% sure the qualifications needed at goa are a lot more than you fucking have.

You seem to be some clueless fuck trolling away on something you have cock all clue about :p

I'm sure i aint the only one who thinks this either

The scary thing is how many people seem to not be able to go without daoc for such a short period.

If you are one of them..

Does it not scare you how much you rely on a game?

Stuff like this happens, and sometimes all the testing in the world doesn't help.

True story, happened this year at a UK retailer :

Launched 4 sites as a test case - a few minor bugs, quickly worked out. Ran with them for 6 months, all running smoothly.
Started rollout of the next 16 sites - first 3 went smooth, all running smoothly, no noticable bugs.
Carried on - Tills crashing, credit cards not working, everything going tits up, had to stop rolling out.

Basically we hit a major server limitation, that wasn't visible until the traffic reached a critical level. All the testing in the world wasn't going to pick it up, either, as it needed not only traffic, but particular combinations of types of traffic, on a particular variation of network. The back end software is running happily on businesses with 10x the number of tills.

You want 100% accurate testing - lets have 3 year patch cycles, and a huge increase in subs costs! Name me one software supplier that gives bug free assurances on complex code, I don't know one.

or just patch overnight like in most other MMPORGS (WoW to name one) so most problems are sorted even before the main playerbase go online :p

In case someone doesn't notice. My post on page 9 was fully sarcastic. I thought it was so covered in sarcasm so that no one would miss out on that

I'm firmly behind GOA at most times, so from this day forth you can consider any attacks on GOA as sarcasm and the post mostly aimed at those complaining.

As has been posted numerous times already: take a chill pill, stay in bed if no work/school. Take a walk or run (it can be healthy you know) write an email or call a person you haven't talked to for a while, clean your room/appartment/house, tell someone you love them, do some homework, think happy thoughts.

But most important of all! Don't worry, be happy! :D

Nice, so you high IQ E&E testers that are obviosuly so much better than the rest of us.... cant test a simple moving a character to a new zone. I test and migrate applications and systems to live environments all the time, I know that problems slip through but saying that this happens during the transition from test to live quite frankly is bollocks (or extreamly bad planning).

I'm not going to come back to everybodys "Don't be so mean" posts, however, in relation to this Tears, Requiel explained it fine in his post.
Regarding the other questions about test server setup etc, I dont know, and couldnt answer if I did, thats one for the GM's or Erivoss to either reply to or say they can't tell you. :p

I got 3 questions:

1) Has this ever happened before, a long shutdown of the servers?
2) if so how lond did it take?.
3) What's tha chance servers will be up tonight pre 18.00CeT ?.

1) Theres been a couple of patch days where the servers have been down most of a day. iirc, with SI they were down over night, although it may have been another patch around there.

2) Aside from that, theres the prydwen problem where servers were down for 3 days, but that was unrelated to a patch and so its unlikley to take that long.

3) Hopeful

Actualy I can take some of this back, we rolled out a system from test to live this week wish resulted in 50% of the servers down and users unable to access our services.

Turns out the change made a memory tweak on the server and under testing this wasnt a problem as we only had 10-15 users on the test box, compared to 50-75 on the live ones.

So, in my own words this was "extreamly bad planning" on my behalf :) but we had it fixed within 30 mins.

Mistakes do happen but the more testing - the more test users - the better.

Jeez so much moaning on here.

I suggest you all get back to work/school/college.

Servers are up when they are up.
