The long hair is mandatory :D

Oh, and yes, interesting, however it all boils down to what it said at the end: It isn't the user, you, which tcpa provides security for. I don't think the average computer user is stupid enough to have ever thought otherwise.

Won't make a difference. Palladium is just the MS name for the controlling software - similar stuff will exist in Linux. The weak point is of course Fritz - don't buy hardware with Fritz, and Palladium is totally impotent. Easy.

Better stock up on your hardware now then, before everything comes with Fritz built in. Of course, MS software always pushes the hardware, requiring upgrading. How long can you hold out for?

So its gonna end up in the end with the average joe having a Thin client in their house paying a fee to use applications and the OS. While the cybergeeks cling onto there PC's :)

Thats the way I see it going eventualy...

I doubt very much that we'll get to a stage where everything has Fritz built in. Why? Simply because the massive IT infrastructures in the world (ie in big business and industry) cannot so simply be upgraded. There will not be a REQUIREMENT to use Fritz/Palladium for a *very* long time, if ever, due to the fact that a multinational with thousands of workstations and servers cannot, for time, money, logistical, security, efficiency or acquisition reasons, simply snap its fingers and upgrade to a fully compliant network. As a result, there will remain a pretty massive user base for non-Fritz hardware. And whilst that exists, the major manufacturers will keep providing it.

If I ever have to use a Fritz machine I will stop using computers alltogether.

It all sounds very very shite and I really dont want to be fucking around with it, I like PC's how they are now and theres no reason they should change...

i thought the hardware also came with a jumper to disable the chip anyway

some clever boffins will have it cracked/hacked before the public get their hands on the hardware/software

in its current form its going to be optionable.
But really think about it.
The worlds developing economic powerhouses - china, india, pakistan etc, will jump on this and provide us with the good stuff :)
