DAoC fans seem to be complaining about problem with GW2 that were also in DAoC (biggest zerg wins etc).

Isn't the reason that people prefer DAoC the complete opposite? It's the only MMO I've ever played where you actually had the tools to deal with being hugely outnumbered assuming you had a skilled group.

Do I get to toot my "I fucking told you so" horn now?
I claim this right given I have been saying all the hype was misplaced since alpha. :p

Goddamn edit timer, missed some vital punctuation there. :(

Can't count Americans in though - they're bad at all games. :D

About what? It being another flop or the WVW thing?

about it being another flop :p I said it was going to be but the forum goers wouldnt have it, infact I believe a few pages back I actually said "I'll remember this for when it flops so I can laugh at you" or something along those lines xd

I think it is far from a flop. For an MMO without subs it is pretty good and not many better out there. PVE Content does get a bit samey after first 4 zones but leveling is very quick anyway. 10-15 levels in a few hours play is doable.

Exactly, it's got it's disapointing areas, WvW I think is the most for me.

It's a 2month old MMO, give it some time at least. People who say it sucks are the people who got 80, did everything in 1 week cos they took it off work like massive nerds then wonder why they are bored.

Jh vs hibs was once 8vs 92 kills then we ran out and we had 1fg jh&1fg np vs several albgrps that beated them or died dont remember, thing is that was in a game with lots of aoe cc. Gw2 really only chance to do something like that is to run mezmers to create the portal and thiefs for the invisibility and have healer guardians I guess but I don't think you would ever beat the sort of numbers you could in daoc.

I remember you saying GW2 was going to be utter shite and fail hard so why did you buy it?

You smashed through the content as you always do with every game you play and move onto the next thing which is WoW right now, I'll give you 4 weeks tops with WoW before you move onto the next game.

The reason for this? Because you play 12 hours or more every day, sometimes I dont know if im envious or happy I don't do the same.

The AOE target limit of GW2 will make it difficult for any group to beat larger numbers, all other things equal, because no matter your tactics - your number of hittable targets are limited and in favor of the zerg/larger group.
Sure if the zerg is retarded and afk - but pretty much else, then numbers will win.

That's why sieges in GW2 are so important.

Unfortunately - WvW these days are much worse already than they were in the beginning due to so many people jumping servers to get on the winning teams and staying out completely because your server is behind or because too many want to farm PvE.
PS2 is looking better each day :)

Atm it is zerg vs zerg, well apart from maybe 2 or 3 groups on excal / prydwen in the first month... everybody zerged..
8v8 developed in daoc, it wasnt just there at start.. 8v8 wasn't just the fights :D it was the community arround it, such things will take time on a new game..
(note if they keep alliances as crap as they are now, there wont be a community).

And all the ones in GW2 that keeps jumping servers to 'win' will also hurt a building of community

Great fun on Gunnars Hold last night. Once again vs greater number and ended up in a 3-way fight between us, Germans and Spanish. Had fun pulling off some evil moves. Lots of loot bags :D

They would win anyway simply because of the lack of mass CC.

We've regularly been killing larger numbers. We die a lot too, but I expect our guildpeople to be killing twice their number in any encounter.

Gotta keep lighting those fires under your own troops :D

The Mad King hasn't been seen in Tyria for 250 years, which means it's about time for a reappearance! Guild Wars 2 is on the verge of its first major content update, and ArenaNet just shared a schedule for the Halloween story. Act one will begin on October 22nd, with the subsequent acts following on the 26th, 28th, and 31st. To whet your appetite for this spooky update, there's also a new video with a content tease, so head on over to the content page or check it out past the break.

If Guild Wars is more your speed, remember that traditional Halloween festivities will be commencing Friday, October 19th.

For some reason I can't really put my finger on, the game has far too quickly become unmotivating and boring. Haven't really played much the past 2 weeks, and I find the WvW to be a pale shadow of DAoC. Kinda sad after waiting for years for the supposed return of proper RvR. Maybe I just miss proper group size (8, not 5!), zerg busting capabilities and a deep combat system too much. And Realm Points. :p

DAoC has a deep combat system?

Since when were assist trains and anytime styles considered a "deep combat system"? :)

Well Cc and Counter Cc sure as hell were deeper and more intriguing than Gw2.

A sadly regular occurence with pretty much all computer games these days. :(

I kinda lost intrest when they introduced the rendering bug, that was ingame almost a week, dont understand why they left it, no fun running around with invisible realm mates or enemies..

Ohhh and rangers pet cant hold aggro for shit, dunno when that happened, but when leveling up my pets where good at aggro, now hit mob 1 time and they rush you.

Seeing as Rangers have a good skill arsenal to keep mobs at range WHILE pounding at em with superb DPS, i really don't see the problem.
I'm probably blind tho!

Yeah but pets not being able to hit on the move you loose some of their dps when you keep mobs away from you, and if you use the pets special attack, they stop and go thru the motions while the mob is ½ mile away. And seeing the out of range crap when you use skills on people, while your auto attack hits them fine, getting obscured on a road, guess its that piece of grass growing that blocks your arrows.
