I've had a very bad time with another that came recommended, personally I wouldn't do it again. Fool me once and all that.

Digital Rev were great for me. The packaging could've been better (about £3k of stuff just crammed into a DHL bag with no bubble wrap or anything) but luckily Canon's own internal packaging was fine.

Everyone has different experiences with every company ever. I wouldn't hesitate to use Digital Rev again.

Re shopping list, carbon fibre tripod.

I did a good four hour hillwalk at the weekend and it paid dividends when lugging my kit up 1600 feet. Wouldn't fancy it with the heavy alu tripod.

My tripod is fine and I'm more than happy with it. It's one thing I really don't need to upgrade

It's not CF but it's sturdy, well made and not very heavy. Can easily walk around all day with it.

Re the lens choice, you cannot go wrong with the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 (the MK1), but I'd equally be tempted to wait for the reviews of the Tamron.

Canon's 24-70mm MK2 is just so fecking expensive for something that'll have no perceivable difference over the MK1 even in a large print.
