Does that matter that much though if you're a manual focus person? Set the focus marker just past 2m with an appropriate aperture and let DoF take care of the sharpness / focus?
Hyper focus will always work but LiveView makes it a tad easier plus usage of the DoF preview button on occasion. LiveView is a battery drainer though.

You can't blame me for your credit card fiddles... Which book though?

Some book you suggested with projects in or something. To be honest I just blindly bought what you told me to :D

DxOMark have tested the sensor in the MK3 and confirmed what everyone knew.

I gotta be blunt, no danger would I pay £3000 for a camera body that's made very little improvement in sensor quality in four years, certainly not at that price. It also show what a sensational bargain the MK2 is. Hell, the MK2 even has better dynamic range at base ISO and makes it the better landscape camera.

The D800 still gets my vote - considerably better lower ISO performance as already demonstrated in this thread with practical examples, marginal loss to the MK3 above 1600 ISO (DxOMark doesn't downsample to the same level for a true comparison), a good £500 cheaper and the ability to mount crop lenses.

I'll chuck this in here because it's more to do with the camera abilities than the phone itself.

Impressive stuff.

Pity they didn't show us some sample shots to see what it's capable of...

I know House is exclusively shot on Canon DSLRs but it looks like they also threw some tilt shift goodness into the latest ep. Classy bastards.

Bah I was going to post that one too.

Almost all the shots are Canon because Fred shoots Canon.

Did you view the dynamic range comparisons? Can I get a "lol"?

I thought the live view and manual focus aspect was telling though - it's the method I use but there might be a work around. Also, Nikon will probably need to raise the game with their T/S lenses. The shadow noise, or absence thereof, was superb and although there is the ISO 50 work around for Canon, it's not as effective. Of course, I do wonder if any of this is relevant to print. Aside from the pleasure in owning good gear (which in itself may be enough), 36MP for a 900 px blog post is a little ramped.
