hmm then perhaps you should look out for another pair with a different pad maybe. Ive got some Cinelli and Willier branded shorts which are ace, and some BBB shorts which are not so ace, but I keep using because I am a cheap fucker :)

I'd cycle naked in the summer if it wasn't illegal (and if I had either a bod or c0xor that I was proud of).

I detest heat.

I agree that the extra layer makes things warm(er) but tbh I go for what I find to be comfortable and nothing beats a good chamois imo.

Owned it. Overtaken by four people at the bottom, I overtook them all within a couple of hundred yards. I overtook every single person I encountered on that hill :) Nobody else got past me, even the guy who overtook me on the easy bit after this photo - it turned hard again and I sailed past him :)

I guess 10,000 miles in a year has its benefits...

Yer a lean mean cycling machine m8. Love the grin on your face, or grimace ;)

Only thing I've got that is remotely comparable (and it isn't) was London > Brighton offroad last year. There's a fucking big hill at the end (like, 70 miles in) - the road route goes up a windy switchback road - but they found a gravel track that goes straight up so we hit that. Everyone had bailed and was walking but I was plodding on and about to give up myself when some fit bird panted "go for it" and my c0x0r told me I had to not fail.

I was feet from what I thought was the top when some guy, must have been the only other guy who rode it, went past me. But then he got to the tarmac and collapsed at the side. I looked up and realised there was at least a mile more hill to go.

I wasn't stopping until the top :D

First run since December. Not too shabby, got some nice routes worked out since moving house too.
Cut it short after 3k as I preferred to leave something in the tank for an evening weights session.

Mmm. Screwed myself up 2 weeks ago with really bad deadlift form (Lower back got better Monday) - So did 3x5@60/80/100KG, then did a single 130KG and a all time new PB of 150KG today. First attempt my left hand slipped (Sweat), dried off and pulled it off the ground like it was nothing. Correcting my form at high weight was fun, but actually concentrating on the movement a bit more worked great.

15KG to go before I consider myself adequate at deadlifting. Maybe 2-3 months of de and re-loading weights to get there. (Can do 130x5, but my form drops on the 4th/5th rep, so need to get back up to there)

*Waddles*

ALSO.. Hanging Cleans suck. Power Cleans make me laugh.. Hanging? Christ.

Awesome @Tom. Mate of mine's on the marathon trip too - he's gonna do the london marathon then he's gonna quit running. You gonna keep it up?

In other news, me and the missus have spent the last two days hurling ourselves down mountains in the lake district - yet I've just had a text off my sister saying she's fallen off a bike in tenerife and broken her arm.

Doddery cow. She's 50 tomorrow and rides like a granny. ;)

I will continue, running is something I can do to keep fit when I'm away working (which will happen a lot this year). I won't be doing another marathon anytime soon, but I'll keep doing the odd half marathon (one a month maybe) to make myself stronger. Maybe I'll do this event again, next year, hopefully by then I can do it in something closer to 4 hours.

I also want to do something odd this summer, like take the bike on a train to Hexham or Barnard Castle, stay in a hotel, and set off home the following morning. Right down the spine of the country.

That'd be cool if you could find an offroad route. I'd quite happily spend a week bike > camp > bike > camp > bike > hotel > bike > camp...

I've no idea how much I could do.

Small bag of potatoes or couple of cans of beans maybe. :)

Stopped at a BnB in Edale last night - went there straight from work and had the missus meet me and had a quick blat up Edale Moor before tea.

Went out today on the mountain bikes. Trying to get the bird used to a lot more technical stuff before we go to France on a MTB holiday with a couple of my mates in July and I'm really pleased with the results. She's coming along really well despite not being the most naturally adventurous person. There's some very sketchy stuff in the High Peak and she dealt with most of it really well (though she did have one small off and hurt her knee slightly).

Weights dropping off her too. A stone since New Year.

Win-fucking-win :)

Oh do CTFO....@Moriath.

If you can't stand people talking openly and honestly about pride in their partner's achievements, or general happy talk about how people in this thread are improving their physical and mental wellbeing through exercise then stop fucking reading it instead of bringing your poisionous negative jealous bile in here.

So tomorrow is my last training day before I go into surgery. Being cut open. Am looking at 3 weeks at least of recovery/no training. That can only mean one thing..

Time to beat my deadlift 1RM.

Basically the inside of my ass cheek. (Google: Seton stitch and perianal crohns - quite disturbing, wouldn't suggest eating at the time)

I think I'll leave the googling m8. I don't think I need to see that - but I get your drift.

GL old bean. You'll be back up in no time. :)

Just ran a 48:30 10k. Quite chuffed about that. I will try for 47 minutes soon.

35 Peak-District miles with the bird and the two mates I'm off to France with today. 4300 feet of climb - and not smooth climb - the majority of it rocky and really gnarly.

One of my mates had to start walking just over half way through but we weren't up for leaving him to do some of the decents on his own - way too dangerous - so the missus said she'd bail and take it easy back to the nearest pub so me and my other mate could finish the ride and then pick 'em up in the car.

I'm shagged :)

since I have a little more time, I went for an inaugural ride of the pro-carbon. I tweaked some small things like handlebar angle and saddle position. I had already bought a pair of clipless pedals for it, and I experimented with different stem lengths. it came with a 130mm which I immediately changed to a 100, but the 100 is a smidgen on the long side, so atm I have a custom titanium 85mm stem on it that I had on my single-speed. Today I bought an Ergon saddle for it, so I will have the same saddle on all my bikes.

the ride was great, even though I stopped a number of times to faff about with the steering and saddle positions. I did about 35km door to door and finished up with congratulatory gin & tonics. I had way too many and ambled home feeling great. the day after I felt as if someone had beaten me about the shoulders with big sticks, but that was mostly from not having biked in about two months and nothing to do with the bike. I can tell because the rest of me did not hurt at all in any way. the racebike makes me take on a fairly aggressive riding position, so I expect more shoulder aches until I get some muscle tone back :)
