Barcoded? You scan when you shop? That doesn't mean it's gonna do weight or anything - how exactly does it work? Step-by-step for this retard? :)

You press the barcode button on the app. It opens the camera. You point the camera at the barcode. The app uses the barcode to determine what the food is, all you have to do is agree and tell it what portion size (which is almost always predefined). So if I scan a box of Nairn Ginger Stem biscuits, it'll know what they are and let me choose if I've eaten the whole box, a small packet of 5 biscuits or a single biscuit.

It has a giant database which lacks only rare foods you might find in small shops. Anything in a supermarket (except Booths maybe) is in there.

Been a while since i used MFP, has it improved? Previously i'd scan things and it would go "WTF is this?" or give me a packet of tampons instead which was a bit confusing and made me double check what i was eating :p

I use MFP every now and again for specific periods and it is truly excellent. Give it a go, you can always stop using it.

Allllsooo.... I sat through a very misguided, poorly researched presentation on risks to do with hiring boats, and they presented a load of stats about accidents, and it was presented as deaths per 1000 hours of activity which seems a sensible way to do it as it doesn't matter how far you've gone, just how long you've been doing it for.

Incidentally, all activities fitted on one page of a powerpoint presentation until the presenter added motorcycling. This would have required the screen to be three times as tall to keep the same scale. Motorcycling, by any measure is ridiculously dangerous.

Another succesful weekend's camping in Wales for me. Went with the bird, her sister and bloke and a mate of mine.

When I say successful, I actually mean semi-succesful. The plan was to walk up Snowdon on Saturday, have a few quiet pints, then get up early, drag my bike up and then ride down it on Sunday. The biking part didn't happen - for this reason:

Conditions were a bit inclement for it. But when the clouds occasionally cleared the views were beautiful! :Dsnowdon.jpg

That's the closest to an idendifying pic I've ever posted of me on the internetz ;)

I had to look that up to that up to see if that was a thing :)

I don't ski or snowboard unfortunately. My ankles were in too bad a state when I was the sort of age where most people take it up so I never got on that bandwagon and now they're mostly fixed they're kinda still rubbish for that sort of thing. (I'm absolutely broken today - I subconciously overcompensate for my historically shit ankles when walking downhill - so the walk down snowdon has taken a toll on my muscles - I walk downhill like a right spaz).

I may give it a go soon tho - I've always liked the idea and a fair few mates do it. I may book something at the beginning of next year (this year is, amazingly, already too rammed!).

Do it :) If you have ankle problems I'd recommend skiing over boarding, the stiffness of the boots will support your ankles.
When I sprained my ankle ( which was worse than breaking it would've been - 6 week recovery and tender afterwards ), I went skiing in about week 5, and the my foot was more comfortable in the boot skiing than hobbling around on it.

If you had knee problems, I'd recommend you do neither :)

I am trying to decide if I can run a marathon distance this year. I started in December, currently I can run 6.5 miles before my legs say "that's about it for today". I'm adding a mile a week to my runs. I never get out of breath or tired, it's just my legs that aren't strong enough (yet).

I did do my medial collateral ligament in my left knee when wakeboarding once. I was piss weak and totally unfit from a muscular stanpoint then tho. So *maybe*.

I was thinking boarding over skiing for the reason that my ankles are now fine in anything other than high impact exercises (running/walking etc) - and I tend to wear walking shoes over boots because the freedom of movement helps rather than hinders. The idea of ski boots makes me think it's a world of knee pain about to happen.

I am trying to decide if I can run a marathon distance this year.
You'll be fine m8. You can get up to marathon distance in a few months - especially since your cardiovascular system is already tip-top.

Yeah I run at 7mph and never get out of breath, my bpm stays at about 155. But the legs get tired quickly. Mind you, I've noticed a marked improvement while climbing hills on the bike so it's all good.

I do so little in the way of walking means that I'm paying for snowdon jaunt with muscular agony on every stair I descend :(

Even if I was interested in jogging my ankles wouldn't let me I don't reckon.

going to testride a fatbike tomorrow :D
Lol!

I was speaking to a bloke on one this weekend. He enjoys it but don't expect to do many miles on them as they are a slog.

Good in the snow tho :)

Done a good amount of work in prep for my first ski trip of the year. ( leaving in ~9hrs ).
Probably gonna be the hardest trip of the year as well in terms of pace.

Looks pretty ace teedlar. That actually your bike?

Just come back from the years first 45-miler. Not massively hilly but cold, icy and offroad up to our "local" forestry commission type trail centre. Legs are sore but a pint and a burger will fix me as soon as the missus gets out of the shower and we get to the pub :)

I've done nothing today. Gonna try and run 8 miles tomorrow though.

I also ate two tubs of ice cream. Well I've been dieting for 13 months, I deserve a treat.

I am down about 4kg on where I was last year, and my lifts are down correspondingly. Attempting to get back in the groove of clockwork-regular workouts and robust eating...

Nice @Yoni. I have to say, the past few years since I had my ankles operated on so I can actually do exercise have been completely transformative with my mood.

I find it easy to not exercise, as does the missus, but without fail we feel much better if we force ourselves to get out of the door.
