Rant FH and Tohtori

Right, now that I have your attention, onto the rant!

First let me just say I do not always agree with Tohtori's viewpoints. However he does go to the trouble of explaining his reasons, and it's not like he replies with "yeah but it is because I say it is".

My rant is regarding the comments I see when he says something. If people agree with him, there is all this "OMG!!! I can't believe I agree with Tohtori"...yeah it was funny the first 20 times, but not now. Also people respond to his posts as if he's a murdering raping maniac giving life skill lessons!

When people disagree with his viewpoint, it usually starts of with a quick insult punch to his ribs, then a lengthy reply which conveniently misquotes and twists his words. What's worse is if he corrects you on something you've said (or deny saying), it turns into a flame fest.

I think this next part may sum up what caused me to make this thread.

Dorimor comes on the forum, acts a complete cnut and pi$$es everyone off. I expect him to be ridiculed and insulted...Hell, I join in with it.

Tohtori just seems to look at things differently 'most' of the time, however not 'all' of the time, so it seems weird how a fair few members give him such a hard time.

I got the dude on ignore (though did break it for the halloween thread because he made the effort to take part, which I appreciated) as we seem never to agree and (this will probably amuse, and cheer him) although some discussions were interesting on the whole I found they had a negative impact on my FH experience (customer service speak) so I think tis better all round to ignore than have endless/pointless forum wars.

Have to say I do cringe quite a lot at the hostility/flaming but then, I imagine he enjoys it and is sat there doing the war cry of 'Let the games begin'. If one dislikes something then it's doubtful they will continue to relish participation.

It's my opinion, it's how i think. Don't like it? Fine, then say you don't like that POV. Don't agree? Then let's have a counter-argument.

There's nothing underhanded, devils avocado'y, or sinister about it. There's no end game, there's no flame pokey argument fishing, there's no internet playtime.

The fun thing is that it's not even that true. Sure i hold different views on things, but it's not all the time.

Not to mention it's true that pretty much everything i write is answered with a pre-set, with most times not even being read and sure as hell not being answered.

We didn't disagree that much, cuple of bad threads that all. Could be counted on few bad days, two consequtive threads or whatnot. Don't aparticulary enjoy people having me on ignore, i'd rather talk things out.

I don't actually enjoy threads being ruined by needless flames either, not to mention old, OLD, insults "all the time", on any subject.

P.S. It's interesting that people insult me with the old stuff like "it's just arguing because you like to argue" only when i disagree with them

Things that people don't complain about;

- People coming on threads JUST to insult me.
- People startng off-topic rants about me, when i've kept nothing bu on topic.
- People disagreeing with topics, yet jumping on my disagreement

90% is over-estimating still.

Especially if you count ONLY those where i'm against/pro something that NOONE else is against/pro.

If you count those threads(that would be accurate to me against everyone), you'll be hard pressed to find one

The "comes across" can be blamed on a few individuals who relentlesly tooted that horn for over a year. There was a whole community against me you know

Even if it was just me who made it seem like i was just disagreeing, how come a year or two of saying "I'm not disagreeing just cause" doesn't ring through? Could it be, that there's a bit of a blinded thing there.

As I understand it, a forum is just that - a discussion forum. As such everyone should be allowed to have their own opinions and the freedom to express them, as long as they are not launching a personal attack on someone ect.

Toht does give his own opinion, occasionally they come across as a bit bizarre, but I don't think that is a bad thing. Obviously I haven't read all the threads he has participated in, but I can't say I've noticed him going out of his way to upset anyone or personally attack anyone on here.

When I disagree with him, I say so, try to explain why and move on. I struggle to understand why some people let these online antics affect them so much and why people take opposite opinions as such a personal thing.

I may not agree with some of his opinions, but I quite like the guy

Fair enough, the last 2 remarks where more of a pun. But the thought still stands. There is a reason for people beeing annoyed with Toht. Maybe he should try to see why and try to change his way's a little?

I'm a bit appalled by some of the responses in this thread if I am honest.

I don't care if Toht started a thread saying it was ok to poor lighter fuel on your trousers while playing with matches and flying a plane. He has an opinion and he is entitled to it as everyone else is entitled to theirs, but for some reason a lot of you seems to take it really personally. I genuinely don't understand why.

FH has a party and invites everyone, including Toht. After sometime Megadave rolls a joint and starts smoking it. Passes it around and Toht notices it. So Toth says to Megadave; "hey man that's not legal" and then try's explain to everyone why this is. Everyone ignores him and the party goes on untill 5 minutes l8r the cops arrive and the party is over.

Toht smiles.


On a more serious note. Yes Toht is entitled to his opinion. But what Raven says is true.

Again, it's not with just about everything. You only notice it when i do. If you check up on the cuontless of threads around, you'd notice that i'm not that bad

Also, if you look at EVERY thread in the past, say, 6 months where people do get annoyed, you'll notice that not once, not one time, have i started the "toht is x" discussion. When someone claims that i'm something i'm not, ofcourse i'll defend on it. But before someone brings out the classic lines of insult, i'm keeping on the topic.

Also i think you'll find that very very rarely i come to a thread just to insult someone(like people do for me).

By the by; people agree with you raven because it doesn't make them accept any blame and is just a repetition of all the things that are just pure lies.

Yup but by posting it on here we are by default allowed to say his opinion was dumb as fook, hence the constant arguments. Regardless of who's opinion it is, if it's stupid it's stupid.

I have a go at Toh all the time. But then I have a hard time having a serious chat with someone who has said the various silly things he has said. I ridicule people at work for having stupid opinions (Someone actually enjoyed Terminator 4) Yes he gets it most weeks because his opinion clearly cannot count for anything!!!!! I argue constantly with people at work who think our country is in the shit it is in because of the immigrants, they kinda take offence when I tell them that's kinda racist. But hey it's an opinion built around their own comments/actions.
