I don't have a buffbot. I don't like them myself and think they unbalance the game too much. If buff characters had to be 'live' and running with the group they buffed, you'd see a lot less fully optimised groups and more variety in group setup imho. It's not something I (or Goa) can change though, it'll have to come from Mythic.

T'was music to my ears, now just if Mythic thought the same :]

Well, full pve wouldn't be so good over time as was full pvp.

A "hybrid" solution in the lines of full pve in normal zones of the realms and full pvp in border zones seems quite more appealing to me. Problem is that kind of server doesn't exist even in US but could be a good alternative.

Well, wishful thinking I know ;)

Are we going to have the opportunity to DL the EU version of NF before the 100 tera-byte rush on patch day? Id hate to think the sheer amount of splurging your network does on a large patch day (foundations).

i read somewhere that we can DL the NF patch a couple of months before it actually comes out - like we could with housing. any plans to put it on PC magazine cover disks for those with lesser connections?

Extremely good idea, and think of the extra advertising :)

Also erm, is it possible to ask for maybe some photos of the GOA offices?

I mean I think it would just be a bit intresting to see what the place looks like. :p

My guess is pretty much the same as my old office.. or any other computer-techie-related office..

desks with empty coffeecups .. :p

But seriously.. Hi GMs :) very nice response.

events *usually* take place on a thursday evening and every 2 weeks (the next one being planned for next thursday on mid).
Of course.. Has to be the week I'm on vacation... Hmmm... Think I'll try sweet talking my bf into going home that day or something, so we can join the event, and then go back on friday or so (just half an hour drive).

oooh... Got questions.. It's more personal "taste" questions than anything about the job.. He he... And fluff that edit post timer...

What music (ie. which bands or genre) do you prefer listening to while playing DAoC, if any? If you can't play music while you play, what would you prefer to have played? Which bands do you think have the most "appropriate" lyrics for DAoC?

Such good choices

Had good fun with the midgard/excal event this evening. Was running Gythja around a bit afterwards. Whichever one of you that was, it was great fun and i would like to do it again sometime

I 100% love the events that are run and always have, always loved roleplaying.

Also nice to see the GMs opening up a bit, so to speak.

Very nice thread.

Most of my music collection is in storage at the moment and I don't listen to music at the office. When I play from home I don't generally have music playing when I'm in game but if I do then I betray my old-school goth/punk roots. Stuff like Sisters, Bauhaus, Fields of the Nephilim, Ramones, Suicidal Tendencies or if I'm feeling a bit more electronic then VNV Nation (who are my Best Band Ever currently).
I had a winamp playlist that had about a thousand tracks encompassing everything from Sneaky Bat Machine to Elvis which was fun....

The most appropriate lyrics I've come across for DAoC are written by friends of mine who do mediaeval music and songs for live roleplay/historical re-enactment events. They've recorded a few CDs worth of stuff and it goes around my playlist with the rest.
Stuff you can actually get which is appropriate to DAoC, I dunno. Incubus Succubus, Fields of the Nephilim I suppose but I've not really come across many commercial albums which seem appropriate for a fantasy-mediaeval setting.

Gythja was one of our lovely volunteers who did a superb job of getting the story across and getting people involved. Sometimes a GM plays an event NPC (I was playing Thegn Arald on the Pryd version of the event last night), but usually we give a volunteer the fun bit and just lurk in the background making sure it all runs smoothly.

Personally I don't like listening to my own music while playing games... I've tried, but always end up turning it off after a few mins. This of course leads me to starring at my screen blankly while I listen to music and not do anything else. Bands on playlist include: System of a Down, Nightwish, Guns 'n' Roses (still favourite band), Marilyn Manson, Joe Satriani, Sirenia, Auf Der Maur, Anathema, Entwine, Molotov, Sinergy, Ray Charles, Steve Vai etc etc. Quite varied really, staying away from anything that has even a remote chance of being on TotP or whatever it's called now.

There are a few bands out with appropriate lyrics at least. Most heavy/hard-rock and some heavy/hard-rock with "medieval" influences. ;)
My playlist (recommendations, very suited lyricwise. ) contains Hammerfall and Falconer (also some Norman at times)... All Swedish bands (dang those swedes for making so much great music) and with lots of medieval lyrics.

Whoodoo: All up to whether you think it's a pleasure or not. ;)

LOL! But what is considered pleasure for some may be considered torture for others. ;)
