Check that downloads aren't paused, that was what happened with me. Isn't there a right-click option for check for updates as well?

Also there's a new PC patch comign out soon, which is supposed to fix some issues.

I had trouble with my 3870x2 on Fallout 3 until the last patch.. just random crashes.

That's because the PS3 version has got the patch that hasn't passed QA for the PC and the Xbox yet. I believe Sony expedited the QA for PS3 patch because of all the graphics issues (textures missing and such).

well I hope they hurry the heck up. FO3 still crashes randomly for me, and tbh it seems to do it whenever Steam does something, like pop up a news page under the game or stuff like that.

Ok, sounds like you're suffering from the Alt-Tab problem, as it looks like Fallout 3 was stupidly not designed to cope with people switching to other applications, although the patch should fix this. I suggest turning off all non-essential apps when you're playing it (at least anything that will try to steal focus), and play in off-line mode.

Ok, sounds like you're suffering from the Alt-Tab problem, as it looks like Fallout 3 was stupidly not designed to cope with people switching to other applications,

iirc they did that to try to prevent ppl from using trainers..

same deal with the pc version of GTA4, if the game detects a trainer it shuts down windows live, preventing you from saving. wich is also a fucking stupid thing, i need to be online to play a fucking single player game.

played in offline mode tonight and typically it crashed just when I'd not been hitting the quicksave button in a bit :/

Just watched that vid, the PS3 has a lot of jagged lines and seems brighter than the 360 version, They got a comparison over at Gamespot with the PC involved aswell. The 360 version looks more curved and almost glossy. Gald I got it on the PC, looks even better.

The difference is so small that it's a retarded argument.

I'm playing the ps3 version and havent had a single crash yet, haven't played while being connected to the net either so no patch. Maybe i'm lucky :d

50mb fallout 3 patch has just come out, mainly game fixes rather than crash fixes from what i can see but might be worth a check for anyone having probs

They finally fixed games for windows, now I can replay through and get the achievements before the DLC comes out.

sweetness! steam patched the game yesterday and now there is no crashing at all! Played for 2,5 hours last night and all was sweet

TBH I never had any crashes at all when I was playing.

I did however ensure I had all the up to date GFW updates etc, and up to date drivers for gfx & sound.

Fab game though.

Had an annoying problem last week, after I installed the patch and D/L my games for windows account (linked to xbox live) it deleted all my game saves and everything in the documents folder, which was fun, managed to get some of my folders back through hours of back-dating and undelete programs. Glad I got Vista, if that happened in XP I would have lost all my music/Videos/Pictures.

Tried it again, seems to have saved the profile and have I have copied my old saves across so I don't have to start again.

Happy about the DLC coming though.
