I've got it on the pc, this seems to be the only active thread.

The game is that good i have it on both 360/PC and not had one crash yet sounds like your having a driver issue.

Only got it on 360, liking it so far, spent most of my time wandering around the wasteland exploring and messing around, completed a couple of quests and have also died for the first time :(

No way, latest drivers from all vendors. Lots of people are complaining about random crashes.

I had the latest drivers(180.43 nvidia beta one) and I couldn't even start Fallout 3, Crashed on clicking on "New Game" then I installed the 175.19 nvidia driver and haven't had a crash since.
Installing those drivers seemed to help alot of people out and using windowed mode also seemed to help quite a few people stop having random crashes.

slight spoiler, but a worth while one i feel;

the ending is .. continous, once you reach a certain point in the main quest, you get sucked along and cant really finish off anything else . so before you do that part, i would suggest finishing off all the side quests first : its the quest to get the g.e.c.k.

just finished it, lvl 19.5 ish. maxed out good on rep.
apart from few niggles , mostly relating to the ending section, loved it. only place i never did find was the slavers base at paradise falls ? so if anyone knows where that is, pls let me know

and thinking about it, the ending is actually cack, SERIOUS spoiler :
oh noes! radioactive chamber.. must push switch, but you, or lyons pride wench, has to do it, and die in the process. which is fine, apart from the fact the only person you can have on your team at the time is the super mutant you rescue in the GECK mission, who by his own admission is *almost entirely immune to radiation*, so why cant he go in, push the button, and come out again?!
stupid "force end of game" mechanic. meh

The wait is almost over and the reviews are coming in with awesomeness, just don't get it for the PS3 lol

I have a long weekend from friday-wednesday going to seriously get into this game and try and explore everything, the game simply looks stunning :)

Was going to get this on PC but GF said no as it will get in the way of her wow time so 360 it is.

Anybody else going to be getting this on friday?

Why not for PS3 ? :p

Yeah that and is it me or it just ends way too fast? I was level 12 I think and I already finished it while there are some perks for level 20 in there.
Played it on normal though so maybe you get more exp on easy? just seems weird not being able to reach the final level (assuming level 20 is the last level).
That or there must be tons of side quests I haven't found yet ;d

With all the side quests, I'm level 12 (or 11, not sure) and I'm miles off finishing.

there are loads of quests in all the side areas, how many locations did you find ?

few general ones that come to mind, reasonably spoiler free:

did you rescue the mercs? you can do quests for them
megaton - blow up or save ? lots of quests there for the book woman
big town ?
ten penny towers ?
the ghoul city ?

talk to everyone you meet who hasnt got a generic name ;)

and failing that, just go wandering in the wasteland, you will prob find somewhere u havent been , and even if you have unlocked ALL the places, there will be encounters and lootage to be had :)

im on 2nd run through, lvl 4 at the mo, being as evil as possible, murdering most people i can get away with and stealing all the stuff that isnt tied down
ive already had a totally different start from last time, which is ace

Guess my fault was not really caring so much for the side quests, I did some here and there but was mainly focussing on the main quest.
As I finished the game on my second try after realising I fubar'ed my starting points in the first try where I already blew up megaton so went the "good" way the 2nd try.

Still I think you shouldn't be able to complete the main story line that fast, the game should force you to do those side quest to advance the story.
Guess I'll redo the game and pick evil this time and do alot of those side quests and hope it takes a bit longer than about 5 hours to finish this game ;d

Its like Oblivion you could rush through and do the main quest in no time at all at a low level and go through the rest of the game afterwards. Just wish they could go back to the Morrowind school of gaming and dump you in a random area then its up to you, with tons of side-quests, factions. Without any hints on the radar etc and before you realise 6 months have gone by and you can't even remember there was a main quest because you were too busy doing other things like putting all your weapons onto shelves in your new home and collecting all the candles the game to create the ultimate lighting for your house, or putting them down to light your way through dark caves.

While I am enjoying F3 it feels like a Fallout mod for Oblivion, but I can't decided wether thats a good or bad thing.

I feel sorry for the chimps who blazed through the main quest in a day and are yelling I beat the game.

The side quests are a huge portion of the game I haven't touched the main quest and I have just hit 30 hours on this puppy.

Blazing through the main quest is not really how the game should be done as you miss a ton of content.

Also this game is nothing like oblivion apart from the character models.

Crazy fool. I have no idea...

...how you'd get past the super-mutants on the way to the GNR building with a sword

will:

if you come into the GNR building when you are told to near the start, you meet up with the Lyon's Pride BoS patrol who clear it for you, then you have to kill the behemoth with the nuke launcher on the body in the fountain

I think Will knows how to get there Mabs, just not how to with a sword. After all...
some SM's do jump you (3 iirc) before the BoS get there to save your arse

in an aside...I agree with PLightstar saying it's an Oblivion mod. Sure, it's prettier, and I'm pleased with the guns, but that aside it's near enough the same to have me thinking what PLightstar said after the first dialogue or two...kind of a let down imo, but then it is a similar game. just gives me the feel of one of those generic websites with a different skin if you know what I mean.

Well :p

super mutants go down with 2 hits (easily VATable) of the Shishkebab.

With the big guy, I didn't use the nukes. Shot him in the head for a while with assault rifle / laser guns and got the final blow with my flaming lawn mower blade super sword

i did it at lvl 3, with no team mate, with a Sledgehammer, so whats the prob ? :p

/edit

VATS: gives limb targets for guns, doesnt seem to for melee ?
is that a constant or do you need a certain skill level for limbs etc?

No Mabs, melee is one click fits all :( That's the sucky part.

Just met some sergeant robot but apparently he doesn't like me enough to be my chum - doh!

I'm a fairly low health sneaky long range type character, I'd get destroyed if I tried to go toe to tow with anything serious.
