Well if it just a compatibility thing then offer him a refund, obviously not for the p&p, and he will have to pay to return it to you, but you can always resell it.

ok,
managed to find some information on the net that points to an incompatability between the chip and his setup

he was gonna sell it on but have received this latest message from him

i feel unhappy reselling it on ebay when i am unable to honestly say it is working. would you consider a refund and you reselling it as you are in a position to be able to verify it is working, if in fact it is.

so, am I in a position to offer him the price of the goods less the P&P to send it to him and get him to send the part back to m for me to resell, with the cost of the return P&P with him?

Personally if it's now his fault I'd offer him his money back, less p&p and less your listing & paypal costs.

Depends how bad you want that rep to stay straight anyhow?

I was about to bid on the games, but £4.30 p&p? I know I have moaned about high p&p before, but it is getting ridiculous now. I costs between £1.50 and £2.50 to post games via first class recorded delivery. Jiffy bag envelopes are cheap as chips now, and I rekon most people have loads from the amount on online shopping done now anyway.

I think the general trend is because P&P is non-refundable in most of eBays standards.

its special delivery , thats the what the cost is, go take a game to your local post office and ask em how much it is to send via special delivery. yes its more expensive but ive been burned once by the shoddy standards of regular mail service

in the past i sold a couple of ps2 and 360 game 2 ps2 games and 360 went missing via recorded del. one game was returned 3 months later by royal mail other 2 were lost. what peeps dont understand is recorded delivery does not mean guarantee delivery if no body opens the door the postie drops it off at the local post office. which then at some point gets sent back to the sorting office.

with special delivery they make sure it gets there before 1pm and you can track it no probs via the site

i also work in a post office we get a load of ebay sellers sending kit via recorded del, even when we tell them of the downsides to recorded compared to special delivery they dont listen until something goes missing or is delivered in damaged state in which case they get told to read the small print and £34 postal order from royal mail.

anyways it says special del next to postage costs, as we can select special del on ebay now which i think is great

ioh and chets, forget about resistance fall of man, its a piss poor fps:)

I only post stuff recorded mail when I can too. Then you can't get fucked by people saying they haven't got it.

Did not notice that it was special delivery yaka, still I have never had a problem with recorded delivery, and the insurance level it provides is fine for dvd's and games. If you are not home they leave a card so you can pick it up from the main post office, I do not see the issue.

It's not always that simple is it. It's clearly sick when people are charging too much postage outright, however people do need to realise there is more to postage costs than the cost of a stamp.

Packaging itself (jiffy bag maybe - but what else is inside - games in DVD boxes isn't much of an issue but anything more fragile, there may be other things to consider, foam, more bubble wrap)
The time it takes to do all of this in such a way that you receive the goods in working order and decent condition
The time it takes, petrol costs etc getting this item to a post office. Some people live in the sticks and have to take a long drive or bus journey to the nearest post office.
Insurance - depending on the value of the item (most stuff i send isn't much over 50 quid so this is part of the postage) you may need to pay (not much more) for added value insurance.

End of the day, the postage costs should be there in clear print at the top and if you're not happy paying it, don't :)
Quite usefully, the new rating system (stars out of 5 for speed, accuracy, postage costs etc) is a good feedback system for these sellers - if a seller looks at his feedback and sees a few people aren't happy with the postage costs, it would be prudent to try and lower them, or explain in more detail in the item listing the reasons for the postage (item size, weight, protection or seller greediness, but they're not all that honest)

Or in my situation it's not a question of whether I'm home or not, but more if I can can get the the front door within the 5 seconds it takes my postman to knock then instantly shove a card through the letterbox and bugger off as fast as he can. He does this all the way down our street with parcels, really irritating, so I pretty much ALWAYS have to go to the post office in town to pick stuff up from eBay etc.

From 2 July 2007, a new PayPal company, PayPal (Europe) S.à r.l. & Cie, S.C.A. (PayPal Luxembourg), will become the service provider for PayPal in the EU. This is a Luxembourg entity regulated as a bank by the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF), the Luxembourg equivalent of the FSA. PayPal Luxembourg will provide the PayPal service throughout the EU.

This basically means that, although the end user will see no difference, Ebay get more of the money with less fee's their end (tax etc). It REALLY grates on me, that you have to pay for eBay (listing) and THEN have to pay eBay again for any monies received via Paypal.
