Keitanz, you haven't tried the game, you base all your knowledge on forums and retarded people rushing through the game and you think streams gives a good view on how the play value of the game really is. Toht actually knows stuff about developing games and has worked professionally with it, unlike you who took an already finished game and modded it. I'm not really sure what you're talking about .... but to make excuses for Blizzards major failures with the downtime and the major account hacking issue is just pathetic and then to say "but gais im a designer irl that makes my opinions true!" is just.. wow

Like I have said multiple times I will get the game as I'm sure it's a good game but these major fails by Blizzard are just a piss take and it's funny seeing people try and say they are fine and it's OK because it's happened before with another game..

The problem is though, i've never defended the issues, or said that my gamedev experience somehow makes my opinion true -on the game itself-.

I've said that i have more insight on why things are as they are as i look at them from a dev perspective and as such, i don't just expect moneygrabbing as a reason for no offline, or server failures as just a f*ck up and i've said that it's understandable that there are issues. That's not defending it, again, i know how 100% absolutely impossible a perfect product is and as such, i don't feel the need to add another raging chirpy voice into server issues.

Me not explaining every little nitpicky problem with the game has nothng to do with it either, that's jsut keeping the whining out of it since there's zero point in it. Less so on a unofficial forum.

You keeping on about how it's a f*ck up etc is pointless, server no purpose and is as misinformed as the regular gamers view on gamedev and problems there-in are.

Buy the game and come back with your own opinion on it, or don't buy it and leave people to discuss a game they enjoy. Pissing on parades, not welcome.

I'm happy to say I raged when I read D3's features and how it was going to be unlike D2 but I've been massively surprised how fun this game is. Much like early DAOC days I can't wait to get home to carry on playing..

Aye I'm really enjoying the game. Going through it slowly atm....still on act 2 but thoroughly enjoying playing my monk. Wandering about exploring all the little cellars and finding the lore and of course smashing enemies into a million little pieces. Going to try a demon-hunter next me thinks.

Did Belial and most of Act 3 in NM yesterday. Still having it quite easy with my wizard, seems blizzard and venom hydra is a really good combo for nightmare.

yeah Keitanz needs to GTFO.. I got home late on release day and managed to log on at 10pm and haven't had any trouble playing since (I was out all of Sunday when the servers were down) most of what he says is hearsay and stuff that he reads on Blizzard's forum =o

I'll give venom hydra and blizzard a go tonight, haven't had many issues using the arcance orb with the damage rune and the lightning orb spell / archon ;d champion packs are 50/50 on my first attempt depending on how much the affliction suprises me / how much space there is to kite XD

How is this Blizzards fault? Are you implying that Blizz are giving people usernames and passwords away to 3rd parties? Can i see some proof of this please?

Or are you an American? "Something happened thats bad! It must be someone elses fault" despite 99% of the time the "hacking" is people using the same username and password on multiple sites and not having an authenticator.

In all my years I have never seen nor heard of a 1st hand account where someone with an authenticator was hacked without it being a flat mate

Blizzard haven't been hacked...

There was a thread on the official forums actually, asking people to describe their situation. Not one of those people "hacked" had an authenticator. Which leads me to believe that it's user error, not blizzards error.

I wish Blizzard would just stop helping people who manage to get themselves hacked, there is no excuse for getting your account compromised by a 3rd party. Basic internet security awareness is enough to prevent it and an authenticator makes it (to quote blizzard) bullet proof. Despite what some people (Who have no idea how Blizzard operate) they bend over backwards to help their customer base, it is one of the reasons they have such a loyal following, but they really shouldn't have to.
In short...

Don't click stupid internet links
Don't open dodgy emails
Don't visit gold selling websites.
Don't share your details with other people, you don't know how seriously they take their security.

In close to 15 years of MMO playing I have not once had an account "hacked" I have had at least one account running in all that time. I have no sympathy for those that give away their details to people and whine when they lose their stuff...clicking on some dumb key logger link is much the same as giving your details away imo.


Until I see something official regarding accounts being compromised due to a bug or server hack I will put it down to people's stupidity. There is no reason to not have an authenticator, it is free and easy to use.

I'm the same. Been MMOing since daoc and never had an intrusion onto any of my accounts. Nor my Steam account or any other account. Blizzard spend millions every year sorting out peoples own mistakes, and they get people like this coming along.

It's the session ID hacking issue.. it's blizzards fault of course and I have seen loads of reports including a few friends and they had authenticators..

Blizzard aren't going to come out and admit it all because that'd look extremely bad for them...

Plus if actual accounts were stolen then there would be a lot of reports of WoW accounts being stolen too..

Maybe it's all just a huge rumour.. but it would explain the downtime on Sunday... why else would they take the servers down for 5-6 hours at the time where most people had time off to play...

Before I had an authenticator I got hacked in wow. I am pretty careful with this sort of thing and I think I got hacked via a wow addon via the curse client. When I got a restore, I got myself an authenticator and have had no issues.

All I can seem to find is a handful of whinging threads from people who by their own admission, don't have authenticators...account theft and namely stripping accounts for gold is big business in China, do you think those people who sell gold for next to nothing, physically sit there killing mobs all day...lol?

One of the biggest ways of account theft is cracked databases.

Forums are a MASSIVE target for theft, and people use the same username/pw - database gets stolen and email+pw tried vs popular mmo accounts until success.

Last year there was a MASSIVE wave of theft in wow and other mmos over a 2-3 months period and it was just because a big forums database had been ninja stolen - a lot of the times the sites w/ these problems don't even realise it as the attacker doesn't care about defacing things or cocking around behind the scenes they just want id/email/pw from legit gamers to test vs logins.

All i will say is that my wife got hacked and so did a game journo ... my wife and i have never been hacked before and her pc is clean of all viruses today as it was before she was hacked.

She opened no suspicious mails and didnt talk to any dodgey peoples. She played Monday morning before work. Got home and her account was wiped.

No she didnt have the authenticator which we both now have. But it wasnt advertised that you could have one when we signed up. Not until looking into it did we find out bliz had one.

I dont know how they got her password. If they got her password. Like i say we been playing online games for as long as theres been an interweb and are savvie in the ways of staying safe.

The sad thign is, Blizz have said in the past, 90% of the people getting stuff stolen either didn't have an authenticator, or were using weak passwords, or when they got their stuff back, changed their password to *originalpassword*1 and then wondered why they got hacked again.

Are you saying that in the past week, two weeks whatever. D3 has had more accounts stolen (sorry i refuse to say hacked, they aren't. Either a key logger or they gave their account details over either knowingly, gold/leveling in wow, or used the same as some dodgy site and used the same username and password)...than the past 7 years of WoW?

Please provide links to these "Oh i had an authenticator and got hacked" threads, because i'll bet all these "thousands" (lol!) who got "hacked" got "hacked" in WoW too previosuly and were to dumb shit to sort themselves out.
