DAOC guilds going WAR

Let's organise a bit.
Heya fellow ex-euro-daoc fans(/freaks
),
I've been cruising over this thread seeing lots of nice info for the future, although we need to get things settled a bit more. People claiming to know which side will be most favored by the daoc guilds are really talking without solid information. I'm seeing enough order/destruction votes to make these claims pretty useless to base your choice on.
The White Roses initiative is awesome, altho I think not all guilds who posted here are already in there (yes even some who posted before the last update).
Keeping this up to date is a keypoint in our way to another awesome daoc-wise new MMORPG adventure. But I'm sure this won't be a problem because of the great effort some people make for this. (for which we all owe them a big thank you!:worthy
Although what's most important in my opinion is: what kind, and above all: WHICH server we are going to be playing.
I don't know if there's server name list yet, but we can start with deciding to go for an Open or a Core server. I would prefer the Open servers as they hold the full force of the new rvr system that mythic wants us to taste.
So far my opinion, but I hope there will be more concrete discussions about this.
I guess this forum will be flooded with suggestions when the servernames pop up, but I rather have things said.
I don't know if I'm the only one, but I think I'm just so eager to get started at the launch that I already want to feel safe about which server will contain more fun than.. well.. maybe even the game itself
. This way we can all start with an unconcerned feeling.
Changing servers later would be a sad thing to see because it would certainly split up the community.
I just can't wait....

I'm not really much of an ex-EU DAoC player, as I started out on NA and spent most of my time there with only brief excursions to the GOA servers. However I will be on GOA's WAR servers and would love to end up on the same server as DAoC guilds, it's one sure way to know I won't be with a bunch of unorganised noobs who couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery.

I just want to mention that the same thing was arranged at wow, and the server was way too overcrowded.
If an ex-DAoC guild with 10 people join a server and every member of it has at least 2 IRL friends join at the same server ( just to be together ) that makes it 30 people per guild.
If you arrange 20 guilds coming x 30 people that makes it 600 MORE people at that server, and i am pretty sure that u wont have only 10 people per guild as well as u wont have only 2 IRL friends coming.
If we take myself for an example, i have about 15 IRL friends that are not in the same guild but they will come to the same server just to be together.
I hope you try to consider my thoughts, and try to find a solution for that, cause i dont wanna play in an overcrowded server .

i spoke with a wr member / ex officer, who plays still wow, last week and he told me that wr gonna roll war with all of their 800 members...
Edit: i cant confirm any of this, but he said he was reading from his new guild forum

We are trying to to set up a list with guilds interested in joining the same server and our main goal is to make thing as balanced as possible for everyone.

i would think that when the server list is known then the arrangements will be made
There is a new serverlist on that "Leaky site" u know..
If its OB servers or live servers one can only guess though.

Surprised at first how many peoples names I recognise from this thread, and secondly how many great memories came flooding back of the old school daoc rvr days..
I played most of my daoc time (excal) from open beta up until shortly before the release of Trials of Atlantis. I came back briefly during toa, but tbh I truly hated the expansion, and that was the last of my daoc days.
If anyone does remember me I played Cadwyr, (celt hero). Played in Clan Bearhawk, and gained very brief notoriety as the co gm of Vigilance. Since then I've been in a bunch of mmo's but only ever really settled in wow (bloodhoof) and later in Everquest 2 (darathar, and nagafen pvp).
It would be awesome to see so many former daoc excal guilds and peeps on the same server. One thing thing that dosent seem decided from this thread will these guilds want to roll on core or open rvr? My personal choice would be open rvr, as it adds an edge to the pve element.
Anyway see u in open beta! Tho will miss first few days as away for my mates birthday bash in Dublin.. Finding all the secrecy imposed on the closed beta peeps a real pain.. Only firm decision I've made is to go Order, and will try at least 3 classes in open beta. Arch mage looks quite challenging, will prob try Bright Wizard and maybe White Lion or Sword master too!
Btw read somewhere about if high level peeps attack greys in low zones they get turned into chickens, with 1hp and 'peck' attack that does 1hp damage. Had to rofl at that. Just wish we had it in the early days in daoc. Hibs penned into the opening area of the frontier, with fatbelly etc using grey con hibs as target practice

White Rose currently has 52 members who have at one time expressed an interest in coming with us to WAR. The actual number that join us at release will be somewhere below that I should imagine.

The Merry Men is in guild beta playing destruction.
we`ll probably play destruction upon release unless destruction outnumbers order badly. then we`ll consider playing order. would be nice to play the minority team for once if there is a serious unbalance in players between order and destruction.

Balance
Balance will be a much bigger issue here than it was in Daoc. In the old school days on Excalibur, Midgard was the pvp powerhouse. Albion had the huge disorganised zerg, Hibernia were the minority, and the slowest of the 3 to put level 50s out into emain.
The imbalance though did seem to slowly dissipate, and the field evend out over time. Usually if one realm would be bossing emain the other 2 realms would concentrate their efforts on the other, well always seemed that way to me.
From what I can gather here if one realm becomes totally dominant, we will have to rely on the mechanisms put in place by the devs to help even the field, in the short term at least.
I personally don't think open beta will give an overly accurate indication of realm balance. Only a fraction of the players intending to play war will be there, not all will choose the same server, and some guilds will decide to go with a diffrent faction for retail.
I guess it would be helpful if major guilds post their intentions for retail in regards to server of choice and realm shortly before head start. Assuming we will have the server names and type published before then.

Heya! Myg/Mygz here. Im surely gonna be returning at the launch of war. I heard from my old guildy´s that we where gathering people together again, altho im not quite sure under witch name. Some of the people was from Pagen death cult, that much i know.
But heck, its a long time ago
