I'm sorry but a cleric smite doesn't do anywhere near the damage a caster does if you compare the same lvls. But yes i do accept we are maybe quite handy at everything and those instant heals and mezzes are life savers.

I agree if you get a group. Scouts dont want to group with anyone but scouts infils wanna only group with infils etc.. so the RP whores get a decent reward for being an excellent RvR class as a support class i find i just get loads of people standing in front of me demanding buffs outside the port keep and then loads of shouts of "HEAL!!!!" when battle commences meanwhile i'm stood there getting feck all RP's because i'm always at the back (I believe that you have to be within a certain range of your group to share the RPs ?) rezzing as my group (if I've got one) has moved on in the usual albion zerg fashion where they leave all of us support classes at the back to be picked off by stealthers!

Maybe things have changed in the last month, i hope so. I have been having a lot more fun in BG with my Wiz than whacking moles with my cleric lately so maybe Albion has improved at RvR since I last took Uri.

No. I am; a decent guild like yours that works well in RvR! You may be missing the point that I'm just expressing my opinion and that flaming is not necessary. As you may be able to tell I am very disallusioned with RvR as a cleric It seems to me that the balancing has forced us nearer to a frontline role where we muck in and start swingng our maces about and do healing and rezzing after the battle because thats the only way you get the much needed RA's. shame, real shame. I used to be proud of saving my group from certain death when XPing but it doesnt seem to work like that in RvR

But Wizards rock and BG is an absolute scream.

old.Odysseus, woah, didn't mean to offend anyone, and I wasn't even replying to your post - ops, maybe I didn't make who's comment I was replying to clear enough. But thanks for the flame, I really appreciate it.

I was replying to -Yoda- and his listing of a few clerics that earned a seemingly large number of realm points last week.

Didn't mean to upset anyone I was actually agreeing with your comment "don't take statistics at face value" I am always of the opinon that people just look at a few un-representative numbers and use them to try and prove a point without showing context.

As for your link, I did follow it and think the page is interesting, I will be looking around further as these sort of statistics are interesting / relevant to several of the nerf and "we are better than you" agruments that often pop up on these boards

Well i can proudly say I'm not guilty mate but I do appreciate that you do find it difficult. One of the best groups I was ever lucky to be part of had 2 infils and a scout in. Tank took aggro and infils brought it down, fast.

Just seems to be that stealthers struggle to XP in groups but farm Rp consistently well solo. I just wish everyone could get their heads around the fact that there is no "uber" group format and that each class adds its own flavour to the melting pot.

Good players make a good group.

But seriously you guys should count yourself lucky, your getting a full respecc as well as two single line respeccs if you want them! I know this doesn't fix the problem but Mythic have given you there a damn sight more then most rpg games have given anyone after a nerf bat beating.

Smite was overpowered for a chain wearing caster, it had to be fixed, deal with it. If your still not happy, roll a damn wizard. Compared to the Sorcerors forthcoming Mezz nerfs you have the least to whine about.

On a side note I too have noticed a heck of alot more young Friars about, I admit im guilty of having one as an alt myself too, but I made him long before they started get 1.5 X level skill points.

Wanna make bets on how long it is before Friars get nerfed too?

Friars are flavour of the month - they're good... but they're far from uber most of the friars will give up before they reach a high level... in fact the 1.53 changes seems to have dampened the 'nerf friars' calls - as they're hybrid fighters and don't get any of the nice new toys

incidentally I've started a smite cleric just for a larf I like underplayed classes... (roll on the nerf! I want to feel more unique!)

I'll group with scouts as long as they have some shield spec or a taunt...

As for the rest I would say increase the weak instead of decrease the strong, but it's mythics choice and this is the way they handle overpowered classes.

you get at least as much whining when you do that

just if you nerf one class, one class complains
you buff one class, 31 classes complain

Actually thats pretty much same reason I made a Friar as an alt, as it used to be an underplayed class, with all the new ones popping up though its not quite so appealing. And your probably right, they may escape the nerf bat due to hybrid fighters not getting the nice cheaper RA's in the future, having just started thinking about RA's with mine I find myself struggling to decide the best way to go with them, whilst still keeping the essential mezz protection.

Its a shame Friars don't get the Clerics instant heals, that would really make them something.

Clerics were nerfed because they were too powerful nukers wearing chain.
I agree 100% with the post of Odysseus, I tried all the classes and I loved the Smite spec. Cleric... just loved it and loved as it was leveling and had great fun.
Had great fun too in RvR with him, although short duration mezz, short range stun and direct damage sometimes pissed me off in some situations like tk camping, etc... but I accepted it as part of the total package. In RvR I used to smite a lot, but always tried to keep an eye on my mates, even I usually spent healings and some instas in non-group people that can be the key to win or lose (too few sorcerers to let them die)
Now, I'm away of DAoC since 1.48 but I read the patch notes and stuff... and don't like at all recent changes to Cleric. I liked the (usually) two main paths (Rejuvenation or Smite) to choose from... now, every experienced Cleric know a Smite Cleric is a gimped one. Before patch changes, the damage output compensated a short range/high cast time, but no more...
The least I like is the mezz nerf... this must be wrong... this is the "SOS" key, you press it and if lucky you can live a bit more... but no more... too high cast delay...
When I return to daoc I will re-spec as a 100% rejuvenation and see how it performs in RvR and if I like it.

Finishing now... I liked the Cleric as it was when I begin leveling the mine, perhaps some tuning from Mythic but not this huge change...this isn't the way to do the balance Mythic.
