Massively missing the point; most of the people living in £1M+ 3-bed semis couldn't actually afford to buy one, so taking the asset off them when the owner dies is a fast track to mass homelessness. It would basically be democratising the death duties that used to affect the landed gentry back in the day, only instead of affecting a few dozen people a year it would affect thousands. I'll say it again, £1M isn't "rich"; certainly not in asset terms.

Meh. I've repeatedly said I'm flexible on the amount. But if the people in the 3-bed semi's are renters, then the flood of housing onto the market because we've taken literally thousands of houses off dead landlords would certainly deal with a lot of that issue.

From my perspective he likes to publicly show himself as being from the UK, and likes to cut all ties apart from when he's with anyone who's polish then he suddenly becomes patriotic, but when its just me and him he'll rip into Poland saying how bad it is.

They're all super patriotic here but I guess you are when you get fucked around a lot - you get closer to that identity - like religion, hur hur.

For instance, they live near a German Bunker and we was walking for a couple of hours talking about the war and it was like 'the British bombed this' and I replied with 'yeah we were pretty good at that' which was replied to with 'but polish spitfighters!'

Also the Enigma machine - the Poles nearly broke the code but then we took it and left their scientists in Poland because we wanted the credit.

I'm not even patriotic I talk about things factually when it comes to historical events but every time its the above or 'yeah but you let Russia fuck us over.'

Odd culture really, but I guess it was the same in the UK 70 odd years ago.

I'm not saying that its the norm, but they also follow Liverpool because they have a Polish goalkeeper for instance and aparrently according to my mate thats relatively common.

Why aren't we like that? Is it because we're too politically correct to day were the best at more things than them or is it because we don't want to be America? The country everyone hates because they brag about everything - personally I think its the latter.

If as a country you don't have many things to make your nation interesting or important on the world stage, you take a disproportionate pride and interest in what you do have. Britain has more "history" than it knows what to do with, and most of it as one of history's winners, Poland, like Ireland, has pretty much the opposite problem; a history characterised by being on the losing side of everything (800 years, plantation, famine etc. for Ireland, WWII, Russian domination, even Mongol invasion, for Poland) so the victories you do have, or even better, glorious defeats (1916, Warsaw Rising) become extra important. Weird thing with Poland is they did have a dominant period, but it wasn't on their own, it was the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth period, when they were the big swinging dicks of central Europe.

However I also think you can have too much of a good thing, and trying to settle an additional million people in a country under a year, from a massively different culture is going to cause major issues for the people coming in and the people who already live there, as Germany are currently finding out about. It's not the weight of experience, it's because they become like us and so many multicultarists base their views on mr friendly Abdulah down the shop and bakeoff contestants.
Try visiting Preston, you will find an aggressive ingrained hatred of westerners, forced marriage, very little cultural mixing.
Or spend a weekend in Birmingham, tge Police there look like the army, standoffs of various ethnics, it's like the frickin gangs of New York.

That, for me, is the most worrying thing - I mean I know we don't always get the full story from our beloved rulers, but when it is so fucking blatant, it just riles people up even more.
