Following on from the population density thing; good article in the Graun yesterday, which pretty much talks about everything we did, but with better information; like London is the lowest population density megacity on the planet. What I find more interesting, is that one of the US' most prominent liberal voices outside of Hollywood, Bill Maher, is starting to agree with him. He's recently been asking why, if the left in the US were so keen to condemn apartheid and other horrible ideas from history, they are very quiet on Sharia Law and the Snackbar's treatment of women.

Not really, it's been worked out that you could cut America's entire military budget, jack up taxes for everyone earning over 150k a year, and he still wouldn't be able to afford all the free stuff he's promised.

Struggles with maths and is offering lots for free, at the expense of people who work hard for a living. Sounds pretty socialist to me.

No-one takes election manifestos seriously, they're just an over-hyped version of what that politician is going to do (Or not.)

So for the first, $1.8tn per year. Not a lot of money considering the US's GDP is about $16-17tn. For the second, I don't understand US taxes but I don't think I'll ever argue against introducing anything like our own NHS.
