Asylum Seekers; Yay or Nay?

Should we be a lot more lenient on asylum seekers from the Middle East?

It's actually from an old children's song from the 80s that lamb is dry and boring. I love lamb myself and I wish I could cook it properly. I've tried doing it myself once and it came out... dry and boring

What I do is get a leg of lamb on the bone. Then butterfly it out.

Make a marinade of: Fresh mint leaves (a couple of big scrunched handfuls). Thyme (lots, strip the stalks of the leaves and chuck the stalks). Rosemary (a fair bit - strip the leaves off the stalks). A whole bulb of garlic (peeled). Whole black peppercorns (a tablespoon full). Some rock salt.

Bash the fuck out of that mixture with a pestle and mortar until all the leaves are bruised and beginning to turn into a paste. Cut a couple of limes up and squeeze all the juice into the mix. Keep bashing then start to slowly add olive oil.

In a few minutes you'll have your lumpy grassy delicious smelling marinade. Rub it into the lamb all over and leave to stand for at least an hour, preferably overnight.

Heat up your BBQ to hot. Slap the lamb on. If it's hot enough it'll only need a few minutes a side to get warm all the way through (and a little burned on the outside). Lamb should be pink in the middle ideally.

Scoff the lot in front of your mates one-handed whilst giving them the bird with your other hand. Job jobbed :)

In five years time we have welcomed our new immigrants, we have integrated them into our society and taught them our ways. They speak passable Swedish, they have started their own businesses, or teaching at our schools, or working in factories making sure our Abbas Sill is tightly packed in their glass jars.

They sing Små grodorna and drink nubbe and eat Sill at midsummer celebrations with their neighbors. They have shown us interesting new foods and things to do with spices that our often bland pallet can only dream of. Who knew lamb could be made to taste so good? And what are really chickpeas, does anyone know how that sorcery works? Fallafel, more like fallarätt (you have to know Swedish to get that one).

In five to ten years about half of them have returned to a more stable situation in the region they came from, the one's that stayed have kids of their own that play soccer with Kalle and Petter, eat pannkaka and ärtsoppa on Thursdays like the rest of the Swedes. They look forward to Mello and hope that the stupid Danes fail horribly in the euro cup qualifications even though they know that they will probably advance and Sweden (who just got so unlucky with the group (again)) just needed one more point to advance.

In five to ten years you will still walk around scared of anyone wearing a scarf, and are outraged that there's a kebab shop just around the corner of a school.
Holy fuck, is that what you tell each other down at the rainbow happy clappy club.

Immigrants are ordinary people, they aren't here to kill our kids or drape themselves in our flag, they are looking for a safer life or maybe just a better one...if you get pushed out of the way, that's your problem.

It really doesn't matter if his father was a refugee or Hitler's black-sheep cousin. That little lad is still dead through no fault of his own, and he'd likely be alive were it not for the current crisis.

So being lied to doesn't bother you at all? Especially in such a way that would massively affect the amount of sympathy we have for the father (which seems to be dropping by the day)?

I didn't jump on this issue because of that picture.

I jumped on this issue way before it was cool to do so.

I'm a sheep-lord.

Not really. The picture of the child didn't move me at all and I doubt anyone who'd already bothered to look at images of dead people being washed ashore before that picture was published felt any different.

The media is very good at manipulating people. Right now, we're all supposed to hate "benefit scroungers" who apparently cost us a small fortune every year. Nobody is supposed to think about the large-scale corporate tax evasion that costs us several orders of magnitude more, because the people who publish the news don't dare bite the hand that feeds them. It's the same story with this young lad - tragic as it is, his story is insignificant compared to the number of people killed in Syria.

I think I nailed that one a few days ago, the whole thing was a bit suspect.
People believe convenient stories too quickly.

I don't know anything about it other than there's a dead kid - so I don't particularly care either way.

I haven't even seen the picture tbh. And I still think it's a tragedy. The whole thing.

Who's who's dad has fuck all to do with it IMO.

even when the death of that child has been specifically used to influence the opinions of the general public through media exposure?

this was deliberately done by the media, although I'm obviously saying this is a new thing!

the picture was staged, a number of critical details have been left out etc.

I don't think it matters where the toddler came from or who his parents were. He died in a horrific manner, as a direct result of the fucked up situation in Syria and Iraq. A fucked up situation caused by us and America through lies and poorly planned action.

We still need to help those that we can and we also need to stop the fucked up situation to stop more throwing themselves at the mercy of the sea in dinghies. The trouble is that Putin has his troll face on and is backing Asad with troops on the ground so a carefully targeted bomb won't solve this problem. We could start with making IS's lives living hell though with total war and leave the rebels to Asad and chums (at this point whether they are on the right side or not) stability and no more bombs > having the correct leader.

I don't care tbh.

If it takes a staged picture of a dead child to make the millions of retard humans that inhabit this planet to give more than zero fucks about a desparate humanitarian situation then that's what it takes.

It says more about the retards who need it than the cynics who staged it tbh.

I mainly believe in inconvenient truths.
Everyone here is falling over themselves to defend their misplaced sympathy for his innocence and vulnerability, he killed his wife and kids while trying to make a fortune risking and killing other children.
It's not his kids fault obviously and how sad they died at their fathers hand.
The story of the original smuggler jumping overboard was just ridiculous, why did anyone believe that?

Do you feel the same about Maddy McCann? Although if true this could be seen as a worse loss of life.

Also someone pointed out on something that in March ISIS said they are going to flood Europe with their people as refugees and now in September it seems people have forgotten that and like I've said before they do all seem to be of male military age types.

Paranoid or not?

Or ISIS weren't dumb and they saw the refugees coming in, so they thought, hmm, how can we scare monger Europe? ;)

Frankly, 'flooding' Europe isn't exactly a threat, if you want to bomb the West, you can easily jump on a flight and get into the UK.

What's the McCann situation got to do with any of this? I can't see any connection.

As for a loss of life - a life is a life - there's nothing "worse" about either loss.

Still tools;

Madeline McCann was so everyone could pretend that they're an investigator and work out what happened.

The kids were to get people to feel bad.

There's lots of things that you could have brought up dead kids with. Why choose an example that's a billion miles away from the current situation.

One dead kid is as bad as another dead kid. The Syrian dead kid at least got people interested in the desparate situation of a people, as opposed to tittilating tabloid-reading retards. But alone they are of equal value.

Yes absolutely, I totally agree Scouse but this recent dead kid could of died because his dad was a people trafficker who has more than likely been responsible for many other deaths before one of his own.

The McCann relevance is, did you stick up and fight for them this hard? Or is it the politically correct thing to do now but not then?

It's difficult to stage events know, because the internet will find you out, but like Dory, we forget 3 mins later and fall for the next one.
