He looked old and frail in the last TV thing I saw him in.
He was one of those "who would you like to have a pint with?" guys for me.
I'll miss him.

One of the first things I did was work experience filming university graduation ceremonies, one of which was Durham, of which he was Chancellor (or vice C). He was absolutely hilarious, I remember one time he was giving his speech, which in itself was quite funny, when a baby made a loud sound from the audience. He immediately stopped, and replied (to the baby) with a similar sound. The baby replied back!

Everyone was laughing at this point, and he started telling people his theories on baby speak, and other languages. It was fantastic stuff, completely off the cuff, and very entertaining.
