I've never publicly protested in my life, but I'll be at the anti-war march tomorrow, Saturday 15th, midday at Embankment.

Be interesting to know if any of you lot will be there.

OK so what would all the anti-war do gooders do if some terrorist decided it was time to meet his maker and blow himself up in the middle of them all?, would they still run around tying themselves to things?.

Most of the people there are probably the same people crying about the human rights of the so called terrorists the USA are holding at camp X-Ray, damn do gooders should be shipped off to Iraq on the next plane, lets see if they still protest about war after a month over there.

Im not pro or anti war, I dont really give a shit as long as I dont get blown up.

i'm off to find some more fuel to throw on the fire...

I'm neither pro or anti war, the way I see it, we're fucked either way.

However, I would like to see things resolved in the most peaceful way, but that never happens.

My banner would read "Leave Totalitarianism alone, as long as it happens to someone else".

Personally I'm generally anti-war, but this rally will be nothing more than anti-american outbursts and the usual suspects of CND, Socialist Worker and Greenpeace making up the numbers.

When you're on the march just remember that no tanks are gonna run over you, neither will you be executed without trial for saying Tony Blair is a twat.

Finally, when its all over you can fuck off back home and run around in your little toy gas guzzler to remind yourself of the main reason why there is so much desire to make war in the first place, its behind that little square door at the back.

Im Anti-war now. I was pro-war a few months ago but listening to the cowboy speak of Bush, and Blair carrying on as an American pet has just made me think. Do we really need a war?

Waste of time, money, resources etc if you ask me, we haven't seen any hard evidence of the Iraqis having anything substantinal, if they do have all these WMD then just give us good, hard proof and then maybe the world opinion would sway, but instead they gave us that crap dossier, and constant re-assurances that 'Sadam is dangerous, blah blah blah.
But it seems more & more likely that its just an excuse for America to get rid of a potentential threat. Maybe Bush should just say 'To be perfectely honest we just want to kill Sadam and install a goverment that is more friendly' I think i might even support that!

So i end on this note

Im Anti War (because we have no adequate reason) & Anti Bush

Also supposidly its going to have in excess of 500,000 people marching! Thats ALOT

Blimey, Xane. Touched a nerve there. :/

Quite simply I don't believe we're going to war for anything like the right reasons, if such things exist. I believe the government is determined to stick by America despite the general (and that is general) anti-war stance of the British public.

I'm off to make up the numbers. If I don't then I'll just get more and more frustrated as time goes on.

And what has the activities in Tienanmen Square got to do with this? Are you saying that because we have a society that allows freedom of speech and association I shouldn't exercise it?

Anti-American outbursts? There's a mirror march in New York tomorrow. Good luck to them. I guess we just disagree with where our governments are leading our countries on this issue.

When I get back to my local railway station I'll probably drive home with the roof down, too.

Uh, there are people who were completely innocent, who got taken off there, no right to legal council/phone call/nothing. No it's easy to take that as like "well, fucking terrorists, they deserve what they get" but you can't fucking look at it that way. If america decides it can do anything it likes with its prisoners, it's no better than china, circa ww1. Just because they've decided that the people they've kept are evil and bad, doesn't give them a right to break international laws. It's fucked, if people accept this then it's one more step towards 1984/minority report/other such futuristic ideas (there're plenty, everyone knows them and yet don't see it when it's happening right infront their eyes)

p.s. I'm not anti war, I think the demo tomorrow is gunna be full of fuckwits saying "make love not war" and "peace with iraq". The fact is, sadam is off his rocker, if he has fucked up weapons, I don't doubt that he'd be happy to use them. This doesn't mean I think we *should* go to war, but it's not quite as clear cut as "PEACE!" or "BOMB THE FUCKERS!".

And you have to admit the Bush administrations foreign policy is really quite agressive. 'We're big, strong, and rich so all you europeans get into line and do what we say or else, remember if it weren't for us you'd all be speaking german right now blah blah blah'

Personally i can see the world slowly trying to have less to do with america if this carrys on, and if Blair keeps it up then also against us.

However if we do go it alone, against the public opinion i can see real serious problems emerging from such an action. I for one would like the Labour goverment kicked out straight away and a coaltion formed until the mess could be sorted out. A democratic goverment is meant to follow the general will of the population. Currently its ignoring us, treating us as idiots and making more and more excuses for various dodgy dealing they get caught for.

Nothing personal Summo, in fact I wish you best of luck and a salute to those who stand up for what they think, often they are a better person than I.

But you'll see for yourself how people can be so anti-american (not that I particularly like americans either), and you'll witness the same old vitriolic and acerbic rhetoric that wouldn't look out of place from the mouth of Abu Hamza, but wasn't it this kind of hatred and intolerance that escalates into conflict in the first place ?

The problem with an in-yer-face protest is on an issue like "peace" you should be trying to avoid confrontation in general, spreadin love and all that in a kind of hippy way, which is a bit ironic don't you think ?

Protests in this country are a sham, single issue groups are simply not interested in anything that doesn't concern them and they'll find any cause to be anti-something whatever, you end up with idiots like Peta who write letters to Mr Arafat when he starts using donkeys to transport bombs, but seem to remain deathly silent when little kids get blow to bits in the same conflict, its total madness.

In fact one of the main groups will be Greenpeace, waving their "no blood for oil" banners and then the next day they7'll be protesting against nuclear power which could one day remove the world dependence on fossil fuels for good, as well as stop funding these religious tyrants.

Where were the anti-war protests when Iraq invaded Kuwait and got us into this sorry mess in the first place ? No one batted a fucking eyelid.

I might well agree we're going to war for the wrong reasons but this protest is happening for the wrong reasons too.

I'll contend myself with not buying an oversized car and using the bus for the school run (even though it takes half and hour longer).

Er...probably because Iraq attacked another country.

Which they have not done this time.

And what would happen if Iraq did attack someone? I'm pretty sure they themselves know what would happen if they attacked someone...

Think about it...

Yeah, basically Iraq are playing the system. They're being just about annoying enough to really piss off the hawks in the US government, without actually being dangerous enough to give America a case to put before the UN.

Have to give them at least some credit for being clever...
