Shrug, what does it do that Quickpic doesn't? QP plays everything I throw at it. I've not had write errors or any problems with stuck clocks in the status bar either.

Huh, I'm sure I put that reply in the roms thread... is something fishy going on? The first two sentences were irrelevant because MX Player is actually decent and the last one was about CM9 but I'm sure there were more words involved...

Can anyone recommend a good diary / journal app?

I've been using Stock, and it does what I want it to do, but the layout is a bit ugly and you can't customise it. Tried an app called "Memories" but although I liked the map & picture functionality, its not very intuitive and makes it overly complex.

Any recommendations? Simple, clean, and customisable.

Trying out Juice Defender. Supposed to be rather good at monitoring & reducing battery drain.

^ Juice Defender works. In 12 hours the phone's still got 70% battery. Usually it would be around 35% by now. Clever bit of kit.

Hmm may give it a go. May give my S3 an extra day of battery life!

I usually have about 60% at end of the day.

Doesn't sound like you have any battery problems with 60 at the end of the day m8, but check it out. Let it run on "Balanced" and see how you get on.

Recent HTC One X update, stuck on EA games app with a free copy of Dead Space, enjoying it at the moment. Looks alot better than I thought it would. Also loving the free version of Dead Trigger a FPS Zombie fighting game. Looks really good and the controls work really well.

If anyone has installed the "SMS Unread Count" widget, and can't get custom icons to load up, I worked out how to do it.

I couldn't work out what I was doing wrong. Until tonight when I used Root Explorer to look at the folder I had created. Turns out the system (I'm 94% sure it wasn't me) had inserted a space between the "com." and "kanokgems" in the folder name. Looked normal using Astro and stock file managers. Root Explorer clearly identified the unwanted space.

/rewards self with a Solero ice cream :)

Mate told me today that a update he got yesterday on his HTC One ? (big one) has killed the HTC music app over Bluetooth, it plays for 3 seconds and then drops off. Google music is unaffected. So might be best avoided if the app is important to you.

I've done my quarterly app update. I know it's not exactly new tech but integrating the ability to take pictures of text and submit it for translation in Google Translate is very very useful.

Also, the "insane" difficulty on Source is... um... time-consuming, to say the least. 50x50 (previous max. was 20x20), I think it took me 40 minutes and about 4000 moves.

Downloaded the Met Office weather app. Very disappointing. They might be one of the eminent weather forecast providers on the planet, but their Android app sucks. I don't need to know what the weather was 3 hours ago. How about telling me what it is now?

Shame.

I loved the dialler on CM10 but since my phone was nicked I've kept this new one on Sense, until CM10 is a bit more stable.

Trouble is, the Sense dialler is a bag of AIDS. It really is the biggest pile of wank ever. Does anyone know of a better dialler, more like CM10, or the stock Gingerbread dialler?

Flightradar24 Pro

Installed v 3.4x of this (free, from the usual sources) (the latest version 3.5.2 sucks apparently). Shows you what airplanes are in the sky. Shows them moving in real time across Google maps (or satellite, whichever you prefer) & tells you altitude, speed, etc etc

Alot of sensey roms have desense packs. They install the AOSP apps like dialer and sms.

This works well. Its called Pocket. It saves web pages so you can read them off-line. I've been voraciously scanning the net for various Indian recipes, and each time I see one I like I just save it to pocket, and when I get bored at work, I'll read them and have a private drool :p

There's probably stock functionality that already does this on the S2...if there is, can someone let me know pls. Ta

Its also got loads of browser extensions so you can save stuff to read later.

Also IFTT has it as a channel, so you can save blog entries to it to read on the go. I personally send on mittani.com entries to it to read on the train home :)

Sounds a bit like an offline readability.
