Whats the stock web browser like in ICS? Is there a "Home Page" button? Its the one thing thats missing on the stock GB browser (unless I've missed it !! :twak:) , and its annoying to have to keep going into bookmarks everytime.

Tried other browsers but they feel sluggish and slow compared to stock..

The Chrome Beta does not and as far as I know will not ever support Flash. The stock browser on my One X works fine with flash, in fact there's an option to enable flash in the settings dialogue.

The stock browser in ICS is just fine, I still use Dolphin HD (which had some problems in ICS but once I updated it was fine) because of support for addons (LastPass and Xmarks, specifically). With the stock ICS browser (or the one with CM9, anyway - I'm assuming they are one and the same), there doesn't seem to be a home button. You have to press the tabs button and from there you can open a new tab or close any open ones etc.

After I updated Dolphin, the home button had vanished from there as well but it was quickly re-instated via the options menu. Can't seem to make it *not* jump to a new tab as soon as I open a link in one though. I like to browse through sites like engadget and open a bunch of new tabs with stories I want to read and then work through them one by one. Jumping straight to the new tab is therefore a real pain. :(

I don't have my tablet with me to check what it's called but I'm pretty sure if you hold on a link in Dolphin there's an option in the context menu to open it in the background.

Rep for you, can't believe I didn't notice that. The "new tab" functionality used to open it in the background though, so they did change it. :)

I'd imagine that's not likely to make anyone cry as it will hopefully speed up the adoption of HTML5

UCCW (Ultimate Custom Clock Widget) is bloody amazing

Any size widget, THE most customisable widget ever. You can even add upto 9 hotspots per widget! A hotspot is a user-defined area of the widget which when you tap it launches an app. Its brilliant. Can even list your missed calls, texts, gmails.

With this app you no longer need Missed It, SMS Unread Count, Minimalistic Text, Desktop Visualiser, all other clock widgets.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/...widget&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd

And its free!

I'm after a notepad widget for the homescreen where you can enter text directly onto the widget without it having to open up another screen.

The only one I've seen is on the HTC Wildfire (stock notepad app, and therefore non-transferable to Samsung. And yes, I've tried rooting the Wildfire but it wasn't having any of it).

Practically every single notepad app I've tried you click on the widget / sticky note etc and it then directs you to another screen where you enter your text, hit enter, and returns you to your homepage.

Any ideas?

It's the worst thing about Android, developers are only just starting to latch onto ICS (Android 3.0) and yet we already have Jellybean (Android 4.1) out the door which is a significant improvement in all areas over ICS.

ICS is 4.0 Jellybean is a modification on ICS and thus 4.1

3.0 Was Honeycomb

Long and the short, anything running ICS should be updated to JB as they are so similar, all ICS apps should run on JB without issue.

There's not actually much difference between ICS and Jellybean, I think they've worked a lot on search and a couple of tweaks here and there. Anything that can run ICS should have no problems with Jellybean (that's what the CyanogenMod people said anyway).

Talking of CyangenMod, have just installed 7.20 onto my San Francisco after previously running Jellyfish. Massive and I do mean massive improvement, less bugs, better reception and more performance. Happy days.

Does anyone have the Swiftkey type thing? Can it be used with the Swype feature?

Functionally no, performance wise yes (if you believe what Google are saying).

The Linaro toolchain stuff is a serious performance increase in certain apps and a good increase for almost everything else, the Jellybean graphics engine enhancements are a very welcome performance boost and give the UI a much slicker feel. It's fucking annoying that the hardware manufacturers are in no rush to release latest builds and so we have to wait on volunteer coder groups like CyangenMod to release builds that might not be getting 100% out of the hardware. It is the worst thing about Android, the fragmentation and lack of commitment by the manufacturers to keep supporting products that are over 6 months old.

God bless Windows 8, non-Apple tablets will finally get a one size all fits all operating system with proper ongoing support via Windows Update.

And that is why cool people buy Google Nexus stuff might not be the flashiest but the longest you have to wait is a month for the newest update.

I use swype, all the imposters are inferior. You can still sign up for the swype beta to use it.

you have to pay for that... pro version only for FLAC support, and the reviews don't seem fantastic enough.

I haven't paid for Winamp. It's playing my FLAC files just fine.
