What would be the point in having a stress test on a system that only a small percentage of players were accessing the system at any one time?

What is it about *This is nothing more than a simple website accounts creation page* that you don't understand?

FFS my neighbour churns these out fully customised for online retail outlets in no time ON HIS OWN! AND THEY WORK!

Just take a swig of STFUMoronJuice already! :twak:

This stinks of the same problems we all got with daoc over the years, thought lessons would have been learnt :/

Anyone who thought today would go smoothly is naive. Guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow morning to try it out.

It's not untested, they have been running Euro DAoC for like 6 yrs now

not on the same hardware they havn't.

@Ramathorn

I'm by no means a technical expert, so I should probably stay out of making claim's about a system I know nothing about. Just seems common sense that they would have problems, as would any site with +100k visitors at any time.

So, has anyone gotten their email confirmation yet?

I've managed to get through the 414s, dodged some 300s, /assist trained the 'nickname in use' and am facing up to the raidboss 'confirmation email.'

Anyone got further than this? (Excludes CB)

It's the same old same old, dont say GOA cant run the game properly blah blah blah give em a chance lol well we have and look at the mess.I must admit the mass exodus of the forum big wigs is making me laugh, U.S OB launch goes hassle free from what we are hearing and here we are fighting with a broken website for 5 hours just to get to the email stage and we wait another what 2 hours lmao pathetic. No one can defend GOA now and i dont want to hear its a stress test had they done this at the start of the week no one woulda cared wed have a good 5 days for them to sort it out amen.:kissit:

True but still would have made sense to have the acc registration open for a few days before no?

I understand you have your panties in a knot, but no need for the personal insults.

I'm just trying to stay positive that's all.
Yes it is frustrating etc.

To be honest, back in the day when I was still playing WoW I cursed at Blizzard's ineptitude to run the servers smoothly and provide fast download for patches, and I thought to myself that GOA support for DAoC had never been that appalling. I take it this is just a hiccup of some sort, the closed beta went very smoothly and I'm somewhat confident they'll get this sorted for release.

Yeah got mine after about 1hr 20 mins or so.

Trying to do anything about that e-mail is another matter though.

Glad to see nothing has changed in my two years of absense - great games still get ruined by morons like GOA.

What did one of their monkeys say yesterday? "Don't judge us for mistakes we haven't made yet."

I'm quite sure it was something like that....

Well..can we start judging now?

Tbh I wouldn't trust GOA to run a Burgerking in a small village outside Yoddlesborough let alone something big like this.

They are using previously untested hardware, with +100k people hitting it all at the same time. Anyone who thought it would go smoothly is naive tbh.
It's only GOA who thought that, isn't it?

They have been using the same system, for registration, you forget no one has even got ONTO the servers yet, this is purely registration/website related incompetance, we have a whole load of actual game server incompetance to look forward too after we get past this botched process.

I'm starting to get worried now. What if they sent me an email and one of those can not process errors happened, and now I won't get an email to validate my account.

Awesome, just tried logging in on the off chance, and I got this lovely message:

'Your account is suspended, your access has been blocked. (code 711)'

Hopefully that's because I've not got the email yet!

No - many defended GOA and said it wasn't needed to be up because we couldn't play anyway.
Many still defend GOA despite the obviousness of their planning is fubar.

@Vell
Would you had prefered them to say "its going to end in hours of frustration for everyone involved. Good luck and see you sunday LOLZ!"

I don't see the point in all this whining about it.

The goa team already stated openly over at warhammer alliance that their system had handled more active connections than there were EU beta keys available. This was done to try to placate every one of us telling them their accounts system would fall over and die if they left it until the last minute to start registrations. According to goa, their system doesn't need stress testing its all fine and working as intended.

Well this rules out trying to login and get another email sent to your email address.

well, i am no expert on the subject either but i work with guys who would provide a similar service to some of the largest companies in ireland. with the right planing and investment there should be almost zero down time (check out vmotion, VMWare DRS etc) - I can only assume they have a serious lack of planning, finance or competence (maybe a combo of all 3).
