depending on what kind of speed those transfers are and your other comps internet connection, you might be able to just dl the files much quicker. I was dling at like 500kb/s on I think war europes or something that linked to their site and got the file in only a couple hours.

when creating the new account, each time the 414 error came i just retried, got me one step closer each time with abit of patience. i have created the new account and awaits email to finish the registration. cant log into keycode and stuff until then sadly.

Luckily I have it transferring now, downloading it is a no go for me, as I can only reach up to 50kb/s!

i think that one of the things that is making it worse is the disappearing acts that the community support managers have made. i for one would like to know what "unforseen" errors have occured that lead to 200k ish people trying to create an account on a website at the same time

It's not untested, they have been running Euro DAoC for like 6 yrs now, and guess what, DAoC players had these types of problems ALL THE TIME from GOA. I played on the Us servers, never had a single problem making, registering and using an account, with GOA it was hell, continual problems with registration, ongoing issues over billing, horrible website/design that obviously can't handle the strain for DAoC, which is a tiny playerbase compared to what warhammer will be.

I appreciate that a beta will have problems, but coming from a semi techincal background i just dont get how it takes so long to resolve.

i am assuming they have some sort of large blade / cluster running vmware or some such piece of kit. if the server keels over and needs more processing power, it is not a massive deal to make this happen, unless they have planned this absolutely terribly, which does seem the case.

Well they createt the problem themself.
First using a new untestet server. They know ppl will bom the servers. And then to first fix the login the same day as open beta release. thats just stupid.

I would have preferred them to say "Due to the high expected demand and the fact we don't want to look like complete idiots come Sunday, we're opening up the account servers on Wednesday to give you all plenty of time to get registered."
