Any links to what message he is referring and where Mark Jacobs answered?

Not easily, since I picked them up from Warhammer Alliance, and for some reason all the WAR forums are incredibly slow right now :O

I'll see if I can get a link for you.....

I dont normally complain, but this really is a joke now.

Whoever decided it was a good idea to not allow open beta registration until the open beta started needs to be moved into another role.

At this rate the servers will not get a stress test, and retail release will see the game servers fall. That of course depends on whether the account servers will be able to handle more than 50,000 people trying to create an account and register their retail key.

Feels more like an alpha test of their registration system, than an open beta of the game servers.

It was something along the lines of;

"If not being able to play a game drives you to such levels of anger and rage then - and there is no polite way to say this - there is something wrong with you."

Or words to such effect. Going off memory here.

Just for the sake of clarity - the comments by IainC that Mark is referring to are not about the GOA handling of the situation, IainC responded a bit strongly when various very offensive comments about GOA and their employees got made on some forums, and his response also got taken rather out of context and made some 'community relations' worse....

Mark's certainly not happy about the way thie Euro release is going, but he wasn't saying that IainC had been misleading us.......

Well - IainCs original quote simply stated that "many of the posts" etc - then 40 minutes later it got edited.

And no - in that quote he isn't saying misleading, you're right.

However another quote from Mark states that it wasn't due to not trying that GOA didn't release the Account Center before Sunday, whereas IaniC often said it was "on schedule" for Sunday.
It all adds up, constantly, and frankly - most of what seems to come from IainC these days looks like "spin" to be mild, which others might call lies.

Think it was more or less that, except he said "if not being able to play a BETA of a game..."

So when can we expect this mail handwritten and delivered by pigeons?
Pigeons fly at about 80 mph and I live about 300 miles from Dublin, so that makes it 3h 45 minutes for me. Anything longer than that and a pigeon would be faster!

Anyone else get the "Registration issue" email? My details are spot on so it must be another one of their errors perhaps?

Well the dude took our money and guaranteeed (that s what is says on the box i purchased) and now his company is screwing up in doing what they guaranteed...its as simple as that...the reslease date is bound to be reschedueled and all thanks to GoA incompetence... seriously the dudes should be sacked by Mythic and mythic should take over the project nd make it work...As for the comment of that incompetent goa dude...they faield to deliver the product in time so i believe they should pay the proce for it...hate mail and death threats are a part of that imho...Goa is a failiure and should be imiediately relieved of their project...

Folks,

So, a few quick points:

1) In terms of compensation, I can't say much about that for obvious reasons. What I can say is that GOA is aware of the issue.

2) In terms of what is happening now with their systems, I'm waiting for the next report from them. Rob (co-founder) is point man for Mythic on this issue, that's how seriously we are taking things.

3) In terms of why they didn't launch things earlier, it wasn't from a lack of trying.

4) In terms of having faith in GOA going forward, wait, watch and then decide yourselves. I've always said that the players' trust is not earned by words (yes, not even my words, I am not that arrogant) but by deeds. GOA knows that they have to regain your trust and they are working to do just that.

My cat just came in with a pidgeon in her mouth. Answer to the delays?

im starting to wonder wether GOA actually got its €9million new servers because the auth server is worse than useless

i wonder what this 9million euro server cluster consists off?
because the most powerful server cluster in the gaming industry is 128+ IBM LS20 blade servers with ramsan 400 SSD's which costs nowhere near 9million euros and its owned by CCP

or maybe IanC was speaking out of his backside and made the 9million euro number up

Overall then, some things went right - not many to be sure and the important things certainly didn't. We made some mistakes, we expected many problems and we found some entirely different ones. We disappointed many of you by not letting you get into the open beta when we said you would and for that I am sorry. All of us are disappointed that we couldn't bring you the service you expected. I wasn't at work yesterday, Magnus was the man on the scene covering the situation, but I did keep a close eye on forums and was in contact with the guys in the office. A lot of what was said yesterday here and on other forums was entirely out of line. Of course you were disappointed and criticism is certainly warranted but frankly many of the posts made about the situation were borderline sociopathic. If having delayed access to a beta test really drives you to such depths of anger and fury that you felt compelled to make the death threats, racial slurs and other deeply unpleasant posts then - and there is no polite way to put this - there is something wrong with you.

The uneditted piece was much more "fun".

Faith in GoA...thats not an easy thing to rebuild...especially since this fiasko...i doubt many ppl will regain their faith and well... many have already canceled ther preorder... as for me i will wait but if they full release will be like this then i can guarantee that not only i will quit but...so will many ppl and instead of beeing competition to WoW we will have another AoC like failiure :( I wanted this game ot be good but i am uncertain that it will be a success in the rather incompetent hands of goa...

while I agree that the people responsible should pay a price,
I hardly think death threats are an appropriate response or price to pay ..
firing a few people on the other hand would probably be a good choice,
if it wouldn't hit the wrong people, which I am fairly certain it would.

transferring the whole project to a new company might sound nice, however
that would mean all of the infrastructure built until now would have been rebuilt and that translates into an even longer waiting time

guess for better or for worse we are stuck with GOA for the time being

at least until the frustration of constant failure finally outweighs the fascination a great franchise/background like warhammer has to offer
