the evidence does show that certain groups, particularly skilled workers, are a net positive to the public finances
We rarely use immigration for skilled workers though (every country competes for them). We use it to suppress wages and do unskilled jobs as cheaply as possible.

Which is why reform voters are unskilled workers who work - who've gotten pissed off that they're trying hard and are still skint. They're also pissed off at the people on benefits because they live alongside them and see them not working.

And they are pissed off with illegal immigrants because if they had a few brain cells they wouldn't be unskilled workers - they'd be skilled.

Still leaving environmental crime in the hands of the environment agency - rather than with the police, who need to lock up the organised criminals who are doing this.

Start by recording, fining and imprisoning anyone delivering and dumping waste by articulated lorry. Give them reduced sentences for fingering who paid them.

And, of course, make public tips free of charge again. Paid for by general taxation. And add a surcharge onto building materials, ringfenced for their disposal, making sure disposal is funded by the people who buy the materials in the first place.

Those found guilty should be forced to stay in a mobile prison cell, on the land they have ruined, to clean it up, until it is as they found it, even if it takes the rest of their lives.

Not all but a lot of it is travellers, when travellers roll up to a town and take over a field or car park, they go about town doing rubbish removal and rather than taking it to the tip they just dump it and rinse repeat.

There's plenty of documented cases of travellers being prosecuted for fly-tipping. I'm not saying all travellers do it, or that they're responsible for all fly-tipping. I'm saying some do, which is obviously true.

You don't need statistics showing that an entire group does something to establish that individual members of that group have done it.

Government guidance itself specifically recognises fly-tipping and excessive littering as potential problems associated with unauthorised encampments.

example

"Herefordshire Council has prosecuted individuals living on Traveller sites for fly-tipping, including a 2022 case involving waste dumped adjacent to a Traveller site."
