Yeah except that'll be £1k+

I'd actually buy that over a GTX 1080. So for 50% more price you get 16GB HBM2 RAM, 50% performance increase in a single card and according to that article that is only limited by CPU speed so could go even higher with some overclocking.

Realistically though most people are going to be picking between a RX 480 (or two) and a GTX 1070.

It will actually do reliable 4k at 60fps on a single card. Worth it if you have the cash to spend.

Hmm the titan x MSRP was $1350... and nvidia seem to be 25% more expensive than last gen. Might end up being £1500.

The 1060 should be out fairly soon as well, wonder what sort of price/performance they get.

Leaked chinese benches showed just above the 480, taken with a pinch of salt.

Well...no...surely people would be using display port on their monitor, leaving the HDMI free, thus nulling this non-issue?

Unless people are buying 1080s for the sake of buying a 1080.

Nice try though, 6/10

Point spectacularly missed once again. The main complaint from VR folk is that they're either: using the HDMI port to power a TV (without DisplayPort) so people they're demoing VR to can see what's going on or using VR in their lounge because of lack of space in front of the computer so they use their HDMI TV to navigate Windows and launch the game then play via the Vive through DisplayPort. Very much an issue in either of those scenarios. Yes there's a $50 adapter but why should they pay even more?

Designed HPC infrastructure around the big Tesla cards. They're amazing tbh.

Due to brexit, a lot of vendors have whacked up GPU prices, my £409 card is now £432.

Great news for my resale value!

:p I snapped up my 480's before price went up thankfully. Prior to Brexit they were £218, they're £240-ish now.

Minor annoyance with ebuyer on my card, it was in stock monday but I picked free delivery ( up to 5 days ).
They've basically held it for 4 days for no reason other than I didn't wanna pay 10-20 quid for delivery fee rape.
Still It's like £520 or something on scan and £450 on OCUK so I can't complain too much I suppose.

For 1080p gaming, 480.
For 1440p if you don't mind turning some settings down, 480.
For 1440p ultra and 4k, 1070.

I dunno what card you currently have though, but the 480 is basically very similar performance to a 970, but a lot better in DX12 - so if you want to play battlefield one in dx12 at 1080p - the 480 is an easy choice.

If you're already on a 970, then don't bother obviously.

Currently running a GTX660 and playing at 1440p (CS:S is fine, new games not so much).

Reckon I'll be buying into 4k for Lightroom, but game at a non-fuckyuppy-downres 1080p, so looks like a 480 + save cash.

If you reallllly wanna cash save, the 4gb reference 480s can be bios flashed as it's just an 8gb card with ram restricted in bios.

eg XFX AMD Radeon RX 480 4GB GDDR5 HDMI 3x DisplayPort PCI-E Graphics Card - Ebuyer

Full guide here:

Also the 4gb is 1-2% off the 8gb performance , so it's actually a better performance/$ than the 8gb.

That said - the 4gb actually 8gb are a limited early run and in a month or two the 4gbs will actually only be 4gbs.

You wont get 60fps at 4k with a 1070 and on average, neither will you on a 1080 (around 55) Well you will with CS:GO but nothing new.

1080p, get a 480 or a 1060 in a month or so
1440, get a 1070
4k, wait, or get 2x 480 or 2x 1060 in a month or so. Or wait a few months for the Titan and drop ~1k on it if you want a single card solution.

imo

Fucking hell, they've sent my 1070 with yodel. Hopefully it gets here in less than five pieces.

I contacted Ebuyer yesterday asking them if they still used Yodel. They do for all non-next day deliveries. If you choose next day they ship with parcelforce.

Building an entirely new PC for a friend with cash to burn, so they have lost out on ~£1500 - will get it from somewhere that has the intention of delivery, rather than throwing it over a neighbors fence/putting it in a dustbin/driving round with it in a van for a week/eating it (delete as applicable)

I've seen pics of them where they don't have the SLI bridge extension.
