I'm toying with the idea of a mining box atm so no thanks, I don't want your Nvidia cards. :)

I'm sure you will be happier with the 1080 than the 970s although I await the "do I or don't I" comments next year when HBM2 lands. ;)

okay I bit the bullet and got a 1080! I ended up with the Inno3D GeForce GTX 1080 - iChill X3 - 8GB. Those pesky review sites tell me I'll be fine with it for a good time to come and it should outperform my two 970's well enough. Although it was quite expensive at 700odd eurobucks (~3000 GBP) it was over 100 eurobucks cheaper than the Asus. Sooooo if anyone wants to take my 970's off my hands, I still have the boxes and everything. The cards work quite well for all their flaws tbh.
Same one as me.

depends a bit on what monitor I'll have. I'm not entirely chuffed with this Acer XB321HK tbh.

you can buy mine if you like :)

it's a beautiful screen, but it turns out I play a lot of WOT and the visuals in that are fairly uniform and static. This means I can see the refresh of the screen as ghosting and that annoys the heck out of me. in high (er) speed games like, err, well anything other than WOT I don't see it.

Hmmm...I may have to rethink that monitor then. I don't really want ghosting like that.
Does it do it when watching a video as well?

well to be fair, WOT is basically worst case material for this monitor. I don't even see the effect in a game like DOOM.

1080 is here! I'm getting a solid 60FPS in WOT on my 4K screen. PC is drawing something like 150-280 W from the socket. also, it's quieeeeeet. my "thank fuck it's summer" standing fan in now the loudest thing in the game room that is not speakers :)

only played WOT but will set up the card properly and play some other games to let you know. here's my unigine test run. latest is on the right, natch :)pcandgfx2014tonow.PNG

Do you still get the ghosting weirdness with the single GPU in WOT?

played some DOOM too. tbh consistent over-60FPS on 4K at my settings. I've even cranked up some things that I normally dial down like shadows and reflections. short term conclusion is that this gfx card is ridiculous and will basically do whatever I want.

Hold up - you're all buying 1080 Nvidias at £600 each?

I have a single GTX970 at the moment and it seems fine - I only have a 24" monitor mind you.

Do you get graphical artifacts (random patterns briefly appearing) for about the first minute after booting up? Mine seems to :/

not noticed that chumlar. what I do now recognize as a problem is that my monitor has an occasional flicker, where a vertical multi-coloured band appears at a random place on the screen for a brief instant. oh well, time to contact the place I got it from :-/

Tried forza horizens 3 with my 760 at 1080p. Lots of low video memory messages.

Any one got a 970 second hand going spare?

That Forza Horizens 3 looks alright, any good?
Well on my lappy it looks good 970m. On my desktop it stutters like feck 760

I only played the first few races but it works ok and looks sweet. Only thing i dont like is lack of real crash damage. But i think thats always been like that.

Handles ok on 360 controller or keyboard it seems.

Was a pain to get loaded didnt realise it check for gfx card driver version and win 10 version. So had to patch both after buying it before it would run. Sigh.
