I can see how it can be seen as progress but in reality, it's more of damage limitation. They know they cant go on living in denial forever so agreeing to ban something that wasn't even supposed be on the gun anyway is the least they can do.

But really isn't going to make much/any difference

As in, the tools that can be attached to a gun to make it fire more rapidly.

Erm. A tool is not a component, by definition. You don't attach a spanner to a car to make it go faster, you fit a component.

A bump stock is not a tool, it is a modification, or component of a rifle.

Back to school with thee, and yes, you are a tool.

As if I can be bothered to get into a pointless argument about semantics with you of all people.

The "lol" implied that you thought the NRA was trying to skirt around the issue by referring to guns as tools, otherwise what was the "lol" for? If it amused you that much that they used "tool" in place of a more appropriate word for a bump stock then no wonder nobody laughs when you try to be funny on here, because your sense of humour is clearly fucking weird.

They are implying that weapons and weapon components are tools when they clearly aren't. It could be argued that a hunting rifle is a tool because it is used to do a job, food gathering.

A military grade assault rifle is not a tool, it is a weapon with a single use, to kill other people.

They are marketing it all away from them being weapons, as usual.

I noticed that you had to call @caLLous a tool in your first reply to him.

Just pointing these things out as you seem to be unaware you're doing it and get upset when people do it to you... :)

They never said it was. They refer to firearms/guns/rifles throughout their statement...
In the aftermath of the evil and senseless attack in Las Vegas, the American people are looking for answers as to how future tragedies can be prevented. Unfortunately, the first response from some politicians has been to call for more gun control. Banning guns from law-abiding Americans based on the criminal act of a madman will do nothing to prevent future attacks. This is a fact that has been proven time and time again in countries around the world. In Las Vegas, reports indicate that certain devices were used to modify the firearms involved. Despite the fact that the Obama administration approved the sale of bump fire stocks on at least two occasions, the National Rifle Association is calling on the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) to immediately review whether these devices comply with federal law. The NRA believes that devices designed to allow semi-automatic rifles to function like fully-automatic rifles should be subject to additional regulations. In an increasingly dangerous world, the NRA remains focused on our mission: strengthening Americans’ Second Amendment freedom to defend themselves, their families and their communities. To that end, on behalf of our five million members across the country, we urge Congress to pass National Right-to-Carry reciprocity, which will allow law-abiding Americans to defend themselves and their families from acts of violence.
...but they're talking specifically about devices which convert semi automatic weapons into fully automatic weapons. It's a bullshit statement and nothing will ever come of it but they never said "tools", that was a word that the beeb used.

Is pretty crazy isn't it - if you have a crash in London now you're initially a terrorist.

You could be shot.

Not really, they aren't demanding a ban of that particular modification. Only "stricter regulations" which in practice will make fuck all difference...

Basically this is NRA trying to sound like they care. But they really aren't.

I bet it went like this. Shooting occurred, the day after NRA brosefs had a meeting, someone panicked and said "we have to say SOMETHING that will please the plebs but isn't infringing on our second amendment fuck puppet"....

And this is what they came up with...

But he wasnt, and youre the least likely to be shot in the UK than any country in the world, you actually get a chance to wander around stabbing people after mowing them down before being accosted by a copper with a baton.

Picture the scene.

Crashed car, couple of coppers, perhaps a fireman or two, standard crash.

Reporter from some shitheal paper/website turns up.

Reporter: So, copper, was it terrorism?
Copper: what?
Reporter: so you aren't ruling it out?
Copper: errrr...

Shortly...

"News just in, possible terrorist attack at museum, potential casualties "

Idiots the country over: omg terrists again. #omghelp #onewithlondon

Not many car accidents involve hitting 11 pedestrians...

True but an accident ina densly populated area full of tourists etc. You can see how only a small deviation could affect a lot of people.

Before all these vehicles as weapons attacks he wouldnt have been pinned.

There's a reason the police don't use the word "accident".

Yes I agree. He also wouldn't have if he had only hit another vehicle.

Considering the heightened security and nervousness of security and the public, plus mowing people down becoming the favourite weapon and he was black, ticks all the boxes, of course theres going to be an over the top reaction.
Dont know why he was screaming, guess it was because he was being held down or he might have had some kind of blackout/seizure

Still something very odd about it, this was a pedestrianised area and he shoukd have been doing 5mph, possibly some throttle problem?

Up until very recently it was RTA but the marketing boys have been at it again.

Some bollocks about accident implying there is no blame or whatever.

Because where there is blame there is a claim and so on.

Do you know, I don't think I have. For some reason I couldn't stand Simon Pegg, despite not seeing any film he was in, until Star Trek so never watched any of them when they came out.

I have no idea why though, still don't.

The other one is James Corden but everything I have seen him in reinforces my dislike of him.

In which case you have something to rectify!
Spaced, Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz are all great (I think Hot Fuzz is the best). Paul is OK. Run Fat Boy Run and The World's End are less so. I concur about James Corden though.

I think he's brilliant - took an instant liking to him ever since Shaun of the Dead.
