End of the day it'll be targeted at teens for a Christmas release, so I doubt it'll be much because they'll want to sell them in bulk (obv) if its £500-600 for example most parents will just say jog on and either buy the Xbox One (assuming its cheaper) or buy something else.

So agree with ECA on this one won't be over £400, it'd be very silly to try and price it above that.

I would hope that Sony have learnt from the last round. Overprice your console and you get raped for sales. Yes they picked up later on but they were fucked hard at launch.

PC has a nice year for games, I have a PS4 preordered BUT If the launch line up is garbage then I'll cancel as right now I am really enjoying PC gaming.

It's the presentations. Sony did a good enough job showing of games and other good stuff, while Microsoft were more interested in hyping Skype, kinect and other non gaming related shit.

I mean, that xbox presentation could just as well have been Netflix or whatever newest stream box reveal....

The thing is, most of the crap the are bigging up is becoming standard on new TVs anyway. The non gaming stuff will just be pointless by the time the console gets any traction so it will just wind up being an average games machine. I can't see it having the longevity of the current consoles.

I know what the xbox is using, I'm just saying 8GB DDR5 isn't cheap by any means which unless Sony is willing to take a hit on losses is going to make the PS3 more expensive.

I'm pretty sure when microsoft release how much OS ram the xbox is using that games can't use people won't mind paying £10-20 more for the ps4, although I'd be surprised if they were not priced identically

Fuck console gaming tbh, it seems to be going in totally the wrong direction. It seems to be aiming more at casual gaming, micro payments etc and less on real story telling or entertainment.

All just noise. The balance of power has shifted away from retail to the manufacturers. Any retail CEO that still has pre-owned as part of his sales plan for two years from now should be sacked; the writing has been on the wall for pre-owned for at least the last two years (when the anti-pre-owned PR went from passive to active from the console manufacturers). People will bitch and moan about trade-ins, then realise they're screwed because every manufacturer has killed retail pre-owned.

I've been saying it for years, the move to online is reducing customer choice, not increasing it.

Even if Sony did the same thing it wouldnt bother me to be honest, I never buy 2nd hand games and I never sell games on for consoles,, I generally only buy JRPG's and those I keep.

I think what bothers me more is Microsoft clearly trying to push as much media related shit as possible "Oh get your netflix app, lovefilm app" etc and watch it on your xbox!... yea, thats why I buy consoles, to watch fucking TV on them.

Actually that's pretty much all I did with my PS3. At the time I bought it, it was the cheapest and best Blu-Ray player on the market, and a pretty handy media streamer. I'd still be using it for that now if my daughter hadn't killed it.

The thing is, most of the fluff is included on smart TVs now so what's the point? Maybe they will take a cut of the subscriptions, or foist extra advertising on everyone. Or maybe they will be utterly retarded and charge people a monthly sub to use features that are free on a smart TV or PS3 or skybox.
