Well of course you disagree about Defoe's goal, which took us through to the final stages, being less important than donkey Heskey who blustered but ultimately did fuck all for us...

You really are a Villa fan :D

Surely most of Heskey's contribution was being caught offside? Or falling over before doing anything of any real use? At least Defoe did some running around and put some pressure on the Slovenian defence instead of standing there looking like he wasn't sure what was going on.

Who set-up Gerrard's goal? Jesus wept.

He did? When?

The main advantage of playing Defoe alongside Rooney is that the defenders and midfielders were denied the easy longball to Heskey. Most of which were five feet over his head against Algeria.

I appreciate that most of you are sheep that just follow what the media says though, so please carry on. Baaaaaaa.

It was during the game that we played against them. The bits where he was running at them, closing down balls and generally putting pressure on them.

The main advantage of playing Defoe alongside Rooney is that the defenders and midfielders were denied the easy longball to Heskey. Most of which were five feet over his head against Algeria.

I think the main advantage was he wasn't useless, standing around and getting caught offside. He actually assisted the flow and tempo of the game and made an effort to actually win the ball when he didn't have it and play the ball when he did.

I appreciate that most of you are sheep that just follow what the media says though, so please carry on. Baaaaaaa.

Couldn't give a shit what the media says and have made a point of steering away from reading the nonsense that gets printed whenever England play football so i'm not following anything.

Anyone else starting to get nervous about Sunday?

I was, but after hearing the views of the Germans I have far more hope. Their squad is good, but it's young so our players will have an advantage over them because of this. I think even more so because of the rivalry we have with the Germans, which will put added pressure on them.

England do well against strong attacking teams due to our counter attacks. 4-5-1 teams are a nightmare for us as we cant break teams down.

I think it will be a nail biter but I think we will win.

No, England do well vs good opposition, it brings the best out of us.

Also, we have been practising penalties!

Yeah - tbh I think we have more chance v germany than ghana because you can expect most of the players to be up for Germany.

I think it's more to do with the fact that Germany will attack, leaving space in behind for Rooney and Defoe to exploit.

I'm not sure about the practicing penalties tho. Surely a professional footballer can hit a ball hard into a net a few feet away? :)

You've not actually watched any of Englands penalty shoot-outs over the last twenty years then?

Cool - hes a very good player and a key individual for Germany - incidentally you realise the literal meaning of his name is pig-mounter?

It was tongue in cheek old bean. But either way - you can't replicate the pressure (which is the important distinction).

Maybe practicing penalties gives 'em something to do to alleviate their boredom ;)

He was feeling the pressure at possibly being the first manager to see England dumped out of the world cup at the group stages since 1958, or something.

But yep. Funny. Especially when he told psycho to sit down, then stand up again :)

more passion than we ever saw from sven or mclaren in that 2 minute segment there.

I like the guy, I hope he stays regardless of the result Sunday, our national team can only improve with his guidance

This world cup reminds me of something but I can't quite put my finger on it.

The French and Italians have surrendered early, the Yanks and Japan have come into it late and we're left to deal with the Germans...

:D
