The same way they did things 100s of years ago, safty standards be damned there is always another person to do the job.

They have ropes, which is more than a lot of skyscraper workers back in the day.

Its perfectly safe provided they know what they're doing. Fred Dibnah worked with ropes and wood for years and never had any trouble.
