HOORAY! empire lovers here at last! lol

im really wondering what im going to do when this game is released... do i play sheep and follow the hordes?

i love daoc i really do, iv played it since release date in one form or another on different servers etc, I finally have classes to the standard that Iv always wanted them to, but im worried that there will not be enough of a player base to play DAOC effectively and im not really looking fowards to the idea of merging the european servers, im not a xenophobe or racist etc Iv always played in mixed guilds but I cant be living with petty children giving it large against each other, making snide comments to each other in a whole mixture of languages.. but hey might force some of the kids out there to learn languages effectively... playing UO increased my French loads and I even learnt a bit of German hehe.

But anyway... it will be a soultorn decision I think.. not one im looking fowards to making, but if i dont jump boat at the beginning, ill be miles behind and dont want to play nube... :-(

I just remember what ahppened to me in DAOC.

I always wanted to play mid, always wanted a troll warrior, but I followed my friends. First to hib - where they quit, then to excal alb where they quit. Finally we went to Mid/ pryd and I achieved my dream! Isquish People was born!

It is a bit worrying aye but still, very early. All the polls I've seen (at waralliance, war-rvr etc) have pointed to around two thirds Destruction and one third Order. Is this indicitative of fan-bois (those who are following the game when it's still 18 months off release) preferring Destruction or representative of a trend that'll continue into the release? Who knows Maybe they'll just have to make High Elf women superhot.... with long bouncy ears...

The polls looked identicle a year before WoW was released and we lal know what happened there

1. WAR will compete with WoW for some of the playerbase (thats inevitable), but a lot of players will come from elsewhere.
2. Almost certainly yes, DAoC is a very low population mmog and one over 4 years old, new gen mmorpg's are targetting a much larger audience, much like WoW did successfully.
3. The game will be pvp centric with quests and the usual pve knobs and whistles. There is an interesting gameplay video from one of the exhibitions where a dev describes a lot of how the game will play. One interesting comment i seem to remmeber is that anyone will be able to pvp from the very beginning. Another cool thing is that you get area quests, so a lot of players can be on the same quest step at the same time, so no waiting around for respawns, providing your all on the same step and in the same place, you all get credit regardless of group or who kills the mob.

aah yeah i saw that movie, and i was stunned on the pvp session, what i remember is "You can stay on this side of the river wich you see is in green on the map and pve, levling up, and when you sick of this you can enter that red zone on the other side of the river and pvp if you like, and then when you done go back to the other side of the river in the green zone and pve some more"

To me that genious, the red zone is a zone that, an example dark elves "want" in the epic storyline and highelves is currently in the epic storyline "controling" it, so thats a place where you can fight for this small patch.. or small and small.. was big tho.. imo thats something special i have never seen before (its NOT like its in WoW), but i hope its not gonna end up like "NUUUUUUH! hes killing me" RUUUUUUUUN TO THE GREEENSIDE and /rofl spam caus he wont be able to kill him caus he is in "pve" side, instead i hope its gonna be the same as in WoW, if you attacked him first or he did with you it doesnt matter if ur in a pvp zone or not, you can kill him even if he runs of in a "safe" zone.. and vice versa ofc

The steam tank's almost definitely out. The cheese would overpower the world.

Why couldn't you be a Nuln soldier? They haven't announced Empire classes yet. It wouldn't surprise me if there was a specialist Handgunner. It's certainly the mainstay of many an Empire WHFB army. Um, not that I've recently started playing again at 25... No Siree.

The trend from wow was the same and for sure i pick what ever less are.
Dunno what outcome was but the server i picked was heavy horde in pvp and seemed more decent players on horde side. So maybe an other fat dorf for me

- loved to kill them in DAoC
- love to kill them in WoW (though I hate the abberation known as wow pvp)

Will find out more about the game before i pick tbh. Well any race but dwarfs, i hate them with passion. I'd rather a Chaos warrior in clad black armour than a mutant, so it depends what they are planning with Chaos.

wouldnt mind playing chaos depending on what classes the other races gets

but since every other person will be playing either chaos or dark elves i would be tempted to go empire dwarfs or even High elfs just because they are the underdog (i think)

ps. played Undead in the tabletop game so i know how nasty High elf can be....never really understood why my friend always was so damn lucky to get banishment every single time i was playing against him.....

I think it just seems that way atm due to them doing the dwarf and orc lands first, its more likely the 'flagship' races will be empire and chaos or none atall.
