I've just had a particularly bad few days because of some people basically doing their best to f**k with my life. To a degree it worked. However...

Being particularly twisted my mind bounced at an odd angle.

Late in the night I was thinking.

Something that put it all into perspective was when I was thinking of a chap I know called Zak who has cerebral palsy. He is one of the greatest people I've ever met. I don't choose the word "greatest" lightly.

Standing joke is that he only walks in a straight line when he's drunk but if you are trying to be mean to him everyone within a 20 foot radius will dance on your liver. He's someone who because of his pure straight-on I-Will-Take-What-Life-Deals-Me-And-Cope attitude that makes you realise that what you got to deal with perhaps isn't quite as bad as you think. I don't mean he's tough or anything, he's just a nice guy who tries to deal with things and takes both life's events and people as they come.

I guess what I'm saying is, whatever is thrown at you, you can get through. Might take friends to help, might take time just so you can take stock, might simply take some idiot on a forum wearing spandex and pronouncing himself Captain Obvious.

Whatever it is.

You will get through it.

Funny when you think you're own life has turned to crap, there are loads of people who would swap with you in an instant.

They see all your advantages and possibilities, you just see a downward spiral.

Unless of course you are a 1 legged aids sufferer, living in a Brazilian slum, with no friends and a 500 dollar drug debt to the local warlord.

Then you are pretty well fucked, and you're only point in life is to make other people feel better about their situations.

I think it's human nature to make you feel like shit sometimes, so that you keep trying to better yourself. If we were all pleased with ourselves constantly then there would be no need for us to improve.

If we all were pleased with what we have we still be living in a cave. Since we would be pleased with that.

I am Teh Seel.

I of all people know the hop-to-it kung-ho bring-it-on-and-i'll-laugh attitude.

Nothing gets to me anymore.
Nothing really pisses me off anymore.
Upbeat to the bloody end.

But, what i do hate, or dislike atleast, is that people with some kind of mental or physical disadvantage suddenly become heroic life survivors when they take things easy rider. Hell, i've taken things like that for ages and noone ever said "Well, that guy is really taking the good and bad" or "That guy really has a I-Will-Take-What-Life-Deals-Me-And-Cope attitude".

What's going on with that? It's like you have to smash your feet, kick your nose in, twist your wrists and pop an eye out while bashing a brick on your head to get noted for a way of life.

What SHOULD be happening that even if the persons had no disabilities at all, people in a 20 foot radius should dance on the preverbial liver of an attacker.

Get my point or don't, it's still valid.

i think i see what you mean seel, though i have to admit sometimes i see things that just make me cry with admiration dont know if any of you saw that documentary "the boy who's skin fell off" it was on a few months back and this poor bugger was in agony every day and he was so damn great he was at a charity benefit and this showbiz totty came over and gave him a hug and she was all tearful etc, when she'd gone he looked at the camera and grinning said "i could see right down her top then". i think we admire people like that cos we've all had days where nothing in particular is wrong but we get the blues even though we healthy and stuff, though i'd have to be the 1st to say i can sympathise its orrible when you feel like that and having some one say "what you got to be miserable about??" and start telling you about people who are worse off doesnt really help. who ever we are we all need someone to care for us and i feel more sorry for those people who are truely alone (able bodied or disabled) than those who may be suffering but have poeple who love them around all the time.
