So Ukraine is under a massive DDOS attack. From a technical point of view, why do we not order all Western/Baltic countries to stop BGP peering with Russia/North Korea/China (where most of the attacks come from). I know that many threat actors may not be physically be located in those countries but surely this would help reduce the scale?

Final thought:

Thinking of Afghanistan. Many NATO countries are sending military equipment to Ukraine, what is the likelihood that Ukraine collapses and Russia gains access to all our modern weapon technology?

Just think that the West has been outplayed so easily by Putin.

I don't think we'll be giving them our latest and greatest.

/edit: The reason modern equipment was in Afghanistan is that the US was also there. Doesn't apply here.

I want every single Russian (person/company) sanctioned in the UK with immediate effect.
Think about that for a while.

The thought obviously occured to me. But I discounted it. It's tantamount to the Americans locking up Japanese in concentration internment camps during WWII. - A pretty abhorrent way to treat people who aren't involved.

Almost every statement Putin gives about others is almost a comical reflection of himself.

He's a silly cunt. If he lost the backing of the billionaires he'd be out of power in a heartbeat.

I think he uses them as he needs but doesn't need them as long as military and FSB are in his pocket

Be like a domino effect tho, thats the problem with such a state of affairs.. once the cards start to wobble the whole thing just comes down around him.

If that was the case then the sanctions on his billionaire buddies havent been very effective so far

Tory response will be nothing.

He won't stop with Ukraine unless the west stops him. This could get seriously fucked up, if it isn't already.

Further. If China sees Russia doing whatever it wants... Is Taiwan next?

Because most Russian people aren't completely mental. We should have no beef with civilians, just the corrupt leadership/financiers.

But they are not locked up in camps and what about the Ukranian civilians being bombed right now? Do we discard them as we don't want to inconvience some Russians?

How would punishing delivery drivers etc help Ukraine or make the slightest bit of difference to what Putin does?

We need to fully isolate Russia, the country. Not Russian people worldwide.

Phone networks are still working; my wife his been on the phone to her colleagues in Kiev this morning. They can't get out of he city as everyone's trying and only one of them has somewhere to go anyway. One girl had her husband and brother (reservists) picked up by their army depot at 3AM and are probably already on their way east.

I would imagine there will be a few hundred thousand Ukrainians at the Polish border by lunchtime.

What do you mean by that?

There's loads of average joe Russians in the UK. What do you mean by "sanction" them? How can we hold them responsible for what Putin's doing? They're just going about their day as per usual. In fact, working for UK companies.

I just think we have to be very careful about what we mean when we say that. I don't believe that you really mean we should be kicking average joe Ruski for what's going on over there do you? But just in case you do mean it - what "sanction" can we do that isn't just pointlessly cruel and hurts ourselves (because they work in the UK)?

Cor the new job who does not know how to quote.

I will amend my "sanction every Russian in the UK" to "sanction every Russian in the UK with assets/cash of over 2million quid".

You are correct, I did not set myself out correctly. It should be any Russian with any form of tie to the Kremlin/Military/Parliament.

Let's not forget about the average joe Ukranians in Ukraine.

BTW - just off a call with a developer in Kiev. We're running a Russian & Ukranian development team (3rd party) (it's why I've been away in Malta for the last 3 weeks) and he's not heard or seen a thing.

Strange, considering "explosions" are happening near Kiev.

Take reports with a pinch of salt. I've no doubt that putin's moving in. But a bit of calm is required.

Yeah, nah, you it seemed you were very much in favour of locking up *all* Russians.

Strikes are strategic, what's the point taking over a country that you've destroyed?
