Putin now seizing funds from officials if the amount doesn't match up to income over the last 3 days. It just broke on BBC News.

To add, NATO forces were not purposely doing it on a grand scale.

Yes I am aware it has happened in the past by NATO countries. This thread is about the current invasion of Ukraine.
And that post is 100% about that Deebs.

It allows us to place our outrage at the current set of atrocities in a proper perspective and helps us not to get carried away on a wave of nationalistic propaganda - to see the world as it really is.

Calling bullshit on that.

The United States military in 2017 relaxed its rules of engagement for airstrikes in Afghanistan, which resulted in a massive increase in civilian casualties. From the last year of the Obama administration to the last full year of recorded data during the Trump administration, the number of civilians killed by U.S.-led airstrikes in Afghanistan increased by 330 percent.

Policy. Policy we knew would lead to a massive increase in the number of civilian deaths we knew we were already causing.

That paper points out that 2019 was the worst year for civilian casualties since 01/02 and the total was 700 for the whole year. I don't say that that is good but it's clearly not comparable to what Russia is currently doing in Ukraine!

Then Poland should not supply planes which is the current plan....

My colleagues in Poland are really scared at the moment and rightfully so... we are transfering some work there from Sweden and the Polish employees do not want to do this in person which is understandable at this time.

How else is it done then?

Driving over the polish Ukrainian border seems to be the only option.

I do not believe Nato should get involved like this the world is dealing with a fucking nutter who is able to do some serious damage and it appears that his generals can or will not convince him otherwise...

It isn't. We said we wouldn't get involved militarily. If we want to go to war with Russia then we get involved.

Do we want to go to war with Russia?

That's fair from Russia tbh.

If it was the other way around we'd quite self-evidently say the same.
So Russia dictates to the world? Do please go fuck off and tend to your chickens.

You would not be saying that if Finland is invaded and then Sweden is on the list. Remember you live in a non NATO country just like Ukraine.

No.

I said this:

Do you not thing we'd not do the same? We invade France, Germany starts giving France munitions and supplying them. Would we not say "anyone who supplies France is fair game"? It's so normal as to be self-evident.

Edit: Honestly m8 - I think you're maybe losing your objectivity on the subject a little. You don't really mean what you said to @Yoni.

Poland aren't supplying planes, but some countries like Romania have allowed Ukrainian aircraft to operate from their bases. The question is, what does Putin want to do about it? He can bluster that they may be regarded as participants, but what's he actually going to do? Minute he attacks any base in a NATO country its Article 5 time. Both sides are taking a risk here, but the Russians would be taking by far the larger.

Maybe.

The guy has said "Why do we need a world without Russia in it?". History is littered with really quite astonishingly strange people - you'd call them "madmen" but I don't really think they're mad - they're just normal humans thinking differently.

If we get into a shooting war with Russia, what is actually stopping him using the button that ends everything?

That's a big gamble.

We know Orange Man really wanted to develop and use "tactical" nuclear weapons. I honestly think he'd have pressed the button if push came to shove.

So here we are, armed to the teeth with potenitally planet-ending weapons - and humans in control of them.

:eek6:

I live in hope that one of his military staff will do the right thing and just shoot him in the back of the head.

Literal contradiction
Nope. Normal humans think all sorts of weird shit all the time. They don't all think the same thing in the same way. On pretty much any subject in a room with 20 people you'll get 20 different variances on a theme - some diametrically opposed, some in agreement but with their own slant.

Normal humans thinking differently. That's what they do all the time.
