They are bombing civilians. Armed, unarmed, adults, children. Indiscriminately.
No they're not. We'd be showing citywide devestation, the totalling of residential blocks on a massive scale. There's fucking thousands of tanks, soldiers, planes, artillery. If they wanted to lay waste to Ukraine it would look very different indeed.

They don't want to do that. It makes no sense. What would be the objective?

Jesus Christ. They are cluster bombing Kharkiv. Just like they did in Syria. That’s how Russia wages war.

Don't the Transnistrians want the USSR back though?
Just like the ‘separatists’ in Ukraine who were nothing to do with Russia at all.

It would lose all semblance of being homegrown if the actual Russian army moved on Moldova as well as Ukraine.

This?

To be crystal clear, there will 100% be civilian casualties. Just like the thousands we kill when we go to war. And we've often fucked up our targets. I'm disputing the fact that Russia is systematically exterminating the civilian population.

But get off your high horse. I've not seen much different from the way Russia wages war than what we do. And I don't like it either way. It's disgusting.

We don't use cluster bombs.

We just sell them to the Saudis to drop them on Yemeni civilians.

Of course there will be civilian casualties when you aim a cruise missile at a residential block of flats.

Yes we know traditional banks have enabled this in the first place pre-sanctions, but surely the crypto bods could be doing their bit here?

It's more bullshit levied at Crypto.

Crypto exchanges - e.g. Binance - have the sanctions lists - and they're implementing the sanctions lists on the named customers.

People are demanding that ALL crypto for ALL Russians are shut down. Which, of course, isn't a demand leveled at anyone in particular - just a "waaaaaaah! crypto is shit".

When, of course, regulated exchanges are required to enforce KYC legislation and enforce sanctions on their customers, just like banks.

Is there proof of this?

Of what, exactly. Please to be clear in exactly what question you're asking.

" Crypto exchanges - e.g. Binance - have the sanctions lists - and they're implementing the sanctions lists on the named customers. "

Is there proof of this?

Not sure I could've been more clear?

I'm not attacking crypto or anything, just interested. Not sure why you're being defensive.

Binance have come out and said they're doing just that. And they've confirmed that they're under pressure (mainly by wankers on social media - nobody official) to block ALL Russian users - regardless of whether they're on the sanctions list.

Look stuff up yourself. Or just read twitter, believe it, and then demand proof from other people when they say the tweets you're reading are shite.

Meanwhile, nobody is banning gold, silver, cash, or any of the other myriad ways that people casually get around sanctions.

I, however, can confirm that I've been involved in actions to block certain Russian banks from SWIFT. Too late, of course. Because we don't want to inconvenience rich people - so the demand from government to implement the sanctions only came after the rich have had plenty of time to make sure they won't run out of cash until the sanctions are lifted.

But "crypto" eh? It's all about this criminal shit you don't understand. (And to be fair - you're not bothered by the complete ineffectiveness of traditional sanctions, so why would you understand crypto?)

The CEO of Kraken (another exchange) very clearly said they'd have to comply if a gov came knocking concerning a client with funds held on the exchange (this was about asset-freezing in Canada a few weeks ago).
