I'm not attacking crypto or anything, just interested. Not sure why you're being defensive.
I wasn't being defensive. I was asking for clarity of exactly what you were after as you were asking for proof.

Binance have come out and said they're doing just that. And they've confirmed that they're under pressure (mainly by wankers on social media - nobody official) to block ALL Russian users - regardless of whether they're on the sanctions list.

Look stuff up yourself. Or just read twitter, believe it, and then demand proof from other people when they say the tweets you're reading are shite.

Meanwhile, nobody is banning gold, silver, cash, or any of the other myriad ways that people casually get around sanctions.

I, however, can confirm that I've been involved in actions to block certain Russian banks from SWIFT. Too late, of course. Because we don't want to inconvenience rich people - so the demand from government to implement the sanctions only came after the rich have had plenty of time to make sure they won't run out of cash until the sanctions are lifted.

But "crypto" eh? It's all about this criminal shit you don't understand. (And to be fair - you're not bothered by the complete ineffectiveness of traditional sanctions, so why would you understand crypto?)

No sanctions on banks though. Just because there are other ways to get around sanctions, doesn't mean that the crypto world should just ignore it imo.

And they're not. They're implementing the sanction list in the same way other financial institutions are implementing the sanction list.

That is clear. Not sure what your continuing beef is.

Well, I just googled "no kyc crypto exchanges" and found several: Top 7 No-KYC Exchanges | Koinly

I would certainly agree that responsible exchanges should be doing all their KYC, AML checks etc. but the regulation isn't there in a lot of jurisdictions so some are more than happy to let you be as shady as you like.

China I can understand. India - kind of. But what's the reason most of Africa abstained?

Have to wonder what the oligarchs think the end game here will look like. They'll have their wealth, but they're not going to be able to spend it outside Russia and China. If their wealth is in Russian banks, you can bet it will get seized, for the good of the nation. Or just stolen by the next ambitious Kremlin official that feels he or she is underpaid. That's why Abramovich and the others were so busy buying up UK property and assets... a hedge against everything back home being seized.

I can also imagine the Ukraine, win or lose this fight, going full out with covert warfare, Operation Wrath of God style, targeting all high level Krelmlin officials, Oligarchs and Russian military staff involved in the invasion. They will never have a quiet day in the sun, ever again.

Been arguing for proper regulation of exchanges for a long time.

Rich people don't really want it tho :(

Edit: Not seen or heard of them. But then there's always shady characters isn't there.

Fuck that. He shouldn’t be able to get any hard currency from it. It should be seized now but Boris insists we’ve already done more than any other nation ever.

Agree. Seize all assets and sell them at cost to others. Give the sale proceeds to Ukraine.

Sweeney's great, this podcast episode he did with former diplomat Arthur Snell is worth a listen.

That's an inflamatory assumption. We don't know why the Lancer went down.

We do know the rescue helicopter sent after it also went down, due to weather. All 5 military personnel on board of the rescue helicopter are dead. No word on the Lancer still, further rescue aircraft scrambled.

Romania is saying the (very old) plane went down due to bad weather and a (one) helicopter that went to investigate was lost to the same bad weather.

Imagine us vs Russians. We'd collapse in 2 hours. Our armed forces are poorly/under equipped, and quite small in size. We couldn't defend a chicken pen.
