Shouldn't we be working together to find a solution rather than pointing fingers?

I feel like the im alright jack approach is exactly what Putin was banking on.

No one is disputing this Tony - I am however more than irritated by the relentless and tiresome anti EU sentiment …..

Probably as irritating as blind faith in the EU, that can do no wrong, ever.

EU countries need to stop their reliance on Russian gas...well fossil fuels in general. I would say that is fair criticism. Russia has Germany's pants down.

Nobody is saying I'm alright Jack. You know, it is OK to criticise countries for deliberately being Russia's bitch?

Aaand, I am pretty sure we are working together. Both the UK and the EU are on the same page... Germany, not so much.

I'd go with you @Raven, but you won't acknowledge our complicity and reliance on Russian gas either. Not even for a second.

So I'm going with @Yoni - you're wilfully blind to our own issues and simply want to have a pop at the EU.

Less than 5% is not a reliance. Less so going into spring.

It's money, a lot of money, going to Russia, that we're not stopping. That was the point under discussion at the start of this. - the morality of us giving money to Russia.

You pointed at the EU and went "what about them". We wouldn't be talking if you'd just gone: "yeah, it's only 5% but it's still a bit shit isn't it" - but you can't bring yourself to do that.

All you want to do is rage at the EU.

Yes, but discussions develop, don't they? Are you so upset that I corrected someone that said that Russian gas was a UK problem? I have already stated, ever and over, that we need to seize Russian assets and stop Russian money around London and also that the Tories have gone far too short in action.

How is pointing out that the EU is heavily into Russia "raging at the EU"? Are they or are they not? And if so, do you not think they should be criticised for it?

It's not my problem folk get upset when people complain about their religion.

It's 5% who fucking cares. I already said it should be turned off.

I read it and I felt it was a bit off and currently I do not trust a lot of the information coming out..

What was off about it? The "pulling out all the men to fight" thing is definitely real; my missus has that straight from the horse's mouth only this morning from one of her colleagues who's just spent 20 hours getting to her parents' house near the Slovak border.

You lot really should stop bickering about how much gas comes from what country as it doesn't matter since it is a global market. As an example we produce enough wheat to cover all our needs but it is still going to go up in cost since it is a global market as well.

I don't understand what was propaganda-ery about it either. It just looked like a bloke showing a pretty desperate situation to me.

The UK's exposure to Russia isn't gas; its money and flows through the banking system, which dwarf anything to do with gas supplies, and, to be fair to Boris (I guess a stopped clock...etc.) he's going after the right stuff. I still want to see Oligarchs' physical assets seized; actual "police do not cross" tape on the front doors of all those houses they leave empty all over London.

All this reinforces my opinion that when my gas boiler breaks again, it'll be replaced with an air source heat pump.

I've not mentioned the EU once but I don't think it is anti EU, more so about the reliance the EU has on Russian energy sources.

Tories doing fuck all that will make much difference. We need to financially cripple Russia and only even begin to discuss reversing it after Russia has left all of Ukraine, including Crimea. It should not even be a negotiation. Leave or stay alone. Start dismantling Nordstream 2, turn off and start dismantling Nordstream 1.

Trash the Rouble, make it worthless. Block Russia from trading in Euros, GBP and the Dollar for 5 years.

I don't disagree with this apart from "Boris is going after the right things" - he's giving that impression, but I don't think he's really going after anything substantive at all.

To be fair I think it's more down to Germany and Italy themselves rather than the EU in this case.

Austria also has a huge revolving door of politicians moving to roles in Russian energy.

Who will both hamstring the EU's response. Putin knows what he is doing.

Much like he's hamstrung the UK's response, because he knows we won't fully root out Russian money, in business and in politics.
