It's like there's a new sub-species of human in the world.
Not sure which class of person you're referring to in this conversation :)

But I do agree with @Ctuchik - it's a "good thing" that people will actually get off their arses and protest things that don't directly affect them. It's a good thing that people can feel outraged because they've the human ability to imagine themselves in the situation that other people are in - and want to show their solidarity and support for them.

The alternative position is absolutely horrible to contemplate. And as much as idiots talk about the "professionally offended" - when you've got large numbers of people actually getting out and protesting something then that's clearly not the case. That sort of trash-talking just shows people up to be blinkered, uncaring and unwilling (or unable) to perform that basic task of empathy.

No, it doesn't, but once upon a time protests actually meant something and actually created change. A bunch of middle class idiots protesting on behalf of people who have bigger things to worry about is just going to change fuck all. All these idiots are doing is diluting discussion. Nobody will give a fuck about what they have protested about tomorrow because its just yet another in a long line of middle class dick bags whining about something that doesn't actually effect them.
Complete bollocks mate. If I was a woman and Trump became my president I'd protest as well, regardless of my class.

Do people fail to understand what solidarity actually means?

The fact that it's a global protest against Trump makes the protests at home vastly more effective. The whole world has taken notice. We're discussing it's global reach on bleeding FH, which we wouldn't be doing if it wasn't, er, global...

And people here are wondering about the effectiveness of such actions? Hello?!! Are you guys mad or blind?!

It's easy to be an all-wise all-knowing cynic from their warm bedrooms.

Hopeless leftie Owen from the Guard said the left will rebuild from the ashes, and he is right (er).
Even Trump tweeted with reference to ..why didnt they get their asses out before the election...as I have posted many times..liberal attitudes were forced upon us, and that really wasnt going to work.
Someone should have whispered in the emporers ear..they only agree because we call them racists.

Heard a super positive thing, allegedly from Tom Hanks: "Let's wish he does so well that I'd vote for the re-election". Much more future focused than predicting failure. Slightly fairer, as the latter is so easy to point out.

America is so up to their eyeballs in Trump, that a little thing like a Trident missile test from a British sub off Florida, headed back to Florida instead of going to the African coast, that its hardly been mentioned in their press.

Yes which is what he is orchestrating.

I have the impression from his new elevated position he is going to keep picking on the media until the people believe him solely over the multiple news sources so that he can introduce controversial legislation so when the media criticise it, he can be all wah wah they've been on my back for ages!

Just playing Devil's Advocate, what if you were one of the women who voted for Trump? For all the protests at the weekend, 42% of US women still voted for the guy, so the clear misogyny can't be there for all to see?

To be honest, I have zero sympathy for the media on this one. He was built up all the way through the primaries, they can't act all butthurt now the monster they created is in the White House.

Since Trump won Twitter has imploded. Just reading the comments makes Brexit look tame. Though to be honest some of the comments and insults they come up with do make me have a little chuckle :)

Still, in my opinion, this is just another middle finger to the current state of politics and the lack of "serving the people". Who knows if Brexit/Trump will make any difference? I guess the upcoming elections this year in other countries will tell.

Wasn't this one of his election pledges?
Yep, though actually meaningless as congress had never passed it.

Either way he may "give" with one hand, but take away with the other:

Mr Trump signed an executive order blocking foreign aid or federal funding for any nongovernmental organisation that provides abortions abroad.

The so-called Mexico City policy was first established by Republican President Ronald Reagan in 1984.

It is typically rescinded by incoming Democratic presidents, including Barack Obama in 2009, and reinstated by Republican presidents.
Guess the Republicans know what sort of person's voting for them...

To me a more accurate comparison to the US voting Trump in would be us voting Nigel Farage to be PM, yes we had Brexit but a lot of people who voted for it would never vote for Farage.
