Yeh, I can't see the Supreme Court doing anything other than throwing this out because, reasons:

He's just an orange, more obvious, Biden anyway.

The substance of their policies are like that between Labour and the Tories. Largely the same. So it matters not who they get in the grand sceme of things.

Trump's the more obvious massive cunt, but Biden's still a massive cunt.

Trump appeals to the low-IQ crowd a bit more, just like the more rightwing Tories do.

Um, ok, but Biden didn't attempt a coup, which is kinda the point.

The judge already found that he engaged in insurrection. If the Supreme Court rules against a state's supreme court, then what of states' rights then?

I just can't get worked up about it. It's all politics as performance art.

For me, if there was anything that fundamentally distinguished between them I'd care, but I just can't bring myself to.

I know people will harp on about the breaking of democracy by Trump, but he's the product of an already-broken democracy.

The American revolution is in tatters. The rags of the constitution and the belief of some people (Biden palpably not included) in it is the only thing holding the country up atm.

Would love to see Trump have a sudden heart attack. But if he gets voted back in by the American people then meh. Everybody thinks they know what's going on, probably nobody does, even those at the supposed 'top'.

That's what heirarchy is for tho?

State > Supreme, like County > UK > EU.

If the top court overrules state court then the top court is saying the state is wrong...

...due process?

They'll have to move extremely quickly if they want to strike it down and I suspect other states could follow.
It is paused pending appeal to the Supreme Court so they can just twiddle their thumbs.

This is the thing isn't it. Get a few fast-followers and it'll snowball.

According to Wiki the CREW lot who brought this case have a target of bringing a case or some action every day against Trump. First one was filed 3 days after his inauguration, so sometime some shit is gonna stick.

I'm not saying that's bad or wrong, btw, just interesting.

Neither did Trump - unless of course you class a small unarmed riot conducted by a bunch of morons as a "coup".

Still, looking at Trump's poll numbers something had to be done I guess. Can't have the bad Orange Man getting another term - just think of all those wars that won't start like last time he was in office.

Hi specifically incited a riot on capital hill that wanted to hang Mike Pence but more than that he was involved in the fake electors scheme.

A failed coup is still a coup.

And Jesus at the 'wars' thing. Not enough koolaid in the world to parse that.

No. No he didn't.

You might need something more convincing than the US Politics reporting version of "Sky Sources say" sadly.

You can Google 'fake electors Trump' yourself you know until you find a link you like but it seems you have brain-worms going on when you can'teven accept that Trump approves of what they tried to do:

I'll assume it's as convincing as the Russiagate conspiracy theories you were spamming for 4 years which turned into the ultimate nothingburger.

He wouldn't even be my choice as next US President, but compared to the senile vegetable that's doing the job now - let's have another 4 years of mean tweets.

And no new wars.

It's not even hidden:

And Trump was demonstrated to have perverted the course of justice many times but wasn't indicted because he was president but I'm assuming you know this. It's just a better soundbite to say 'nothingburger'.

Trump as peacemaker is some utter MAGA-tankie crazy.

Can't wait to see what new wars pop up when Trump cripples NATO.

I don't think it's anything like that. The situation seems to be quite complicated, the Supreme court might decide it has no authority to judge.

Incidentally, WHO would be your choice?

Even though it's an electoral cycle too early for him I'd go with DeSantis - during the madness of COVID he was one of the few people in power who had his head screwed on properly.

Just don't make him force a smile as that will be all sorts of awkward.....

He wouldn't win though. He's really weird around people. Biden would love it if they picked him.

Nikki Haley might have a chance. DeSantis would lose before its started.

If Biden is running next time, which I don't entirely believe. He would be up against Newsom and judging by the debate they had a couple of weeks ago it would be Ron by a country mile.

Sad thing is with the state of American politics right now I'm not sure if you mean Newsom or DeSacntimonius 🤣

Probably why Trump at this stage will end up as the next(?) President.

Dont really get the whole "both sides are as bad as each other" when one is objectively worse, just go look at how many republicans get convicted for shitty stuff during or after their regimes compared to when democrats have been in charge

The thing that @Wij posted was literally the result of a team of people that three days after Trump was appointed had a target of bringing a prosecution a day against Trump. Three days after he was appointed. That's not "waiting to see what bad shit he does" - that's "Trumps in, lets prove him criminal."

They are funded by Democrats. So if you're looking at why republicans get convicted, look no further.

Republicans are dumber than democrats. Actual Science has been done. Republicans and their voters have lower IQ's. It's replicated across the pond with rightwing Tory voters and people who fall for their bullshit. However - and critically importantly - they don't have lower levels of criminality.

When you have non-partisan watchdogs then Dems and Republicans are pretty much as bad as each other. It's the same as white collar and blue collar crime. Blue collar gets fucked by the po-po because the po-po are there to catch the proles. But rich arseholes get away with all sorts of shit - largely because the criminal justice system is designed to manage us proles. This is because the law is designed by powerful people, for powerful people.

So yes. Both sides are literally "as bad as each other". They differ only in meaningless ways. You can tell this by who funds them - the same top 10 funders fund both the democrats and the republicans - they differ only in who appears higher in the who-paid-what list. But it's the same top-10.

They palpably are as bad as each other. Look at what Sleepy Joe has done, not what he's said. It's exactly the same shit Trump did, without the idiot lens applied.

People want to feel this isn't true. Desparately. Because to think otherwise means accepting that you have no real control over your lives and that, gasp!, your vote might be meaningless.

It is. We don't live in a real democracy.

So... Worse?
Depends on how you define "worse":
they don't have lower levels of criminality.

Now, unless you're a big eugenicist and desire to see low-IQ types wiped out or something, then it's not hard to accept that criminality goes up and down the IQ chain equally.

So, "no worse" for me = no more criminal.

But the reason CREW sometimes manage to get something to stick whereas Project Veritas doesn’t is because Trump actually did try to rig the election by just declaring he’d won states he hadn’t whereas all the ballot-stuffing allegations turned out to be total bollocks.

Also, I don’t remember any Democrat crazies holding a press conference at a landscaping supplies outlet.
