Hardly surprising however when you look at the criteria for Time Person of the Year - generally the person who has had the biggest effect on world events for the last 12 months, for better or for worse.

Just have a butchers at who won it in 1938, and 1939 for that matter. It really doesn't have to be a good effect they have.....

This. First reaction is often WTF? but its not a popularity contest, its influence that's being measured.

It would be SO fucking amusing if it turns out that Russia actually did help Trump win. :)

For a second i even thought it would be even better if it turns out that Trump was in on it but then my sanity broke loose and i got scared...

Michael Moore is predicting Trump won't turn up for his inauguration.
I'd put a tenner on that.

You'd think he'd have people go through his Twitter history and cleanse it before he makes a fool out of himself... again.

Ha, Twitter bites, but you know he'll just brush it off, 'He needed them, I have a better memory'.

Anyway, Trumps getting a first day class in diplomacy from China.
'We will arm your enemies'.
Still , his immaturity will work out well, force everyone to show their hands.

Some men just want to see the world burn.

I don't think you get it Job, there's world peace because certain countries don't mention certain things about other certain countries.

Growing tensions with China before Trump, now China have basically revealed to the world what they have as a weapon.
Nothing beats plain talking and that one statement has changed the level of respect and position for ordinary people, and this is the new politics..get used to it.

Wait, are you saying the Saudis are bad? Did not know that.

...

Keep up with news dear boy. Boris said as much but got a bollocking for it. Sometimes things need to be said...or in the case of Saudi Arabia, hit by meteor.

No. It'd fucking idiotic.

China is a county where you can get taken away at the middle of the night if you upset your Government.

The USA and Europe have certain freedoms where this is less common.

Europe and America dominated the planet for the past 300 years until the point where we realised Japan are actually quite capable.

Since that part the world has engaged in economic alliances with other nations.

These are economic. Nothing else.
If pushed enough China would happily cause a shit storm with America because by Truly saying such dangerous things potentially undermines their power. Which won't stand with them.

The worst part about it is that it isn't even stuff that needs to be addressed - China and Taiwan have been living in relative peace for a very long period of time now. Trump isn't doing it to benefit Taiwan. He's just trying to consolidate his position as an American strong man.

Trump doesn't give a crap about Taiwan, he's only talking with them to deliberately get a response out of the Chinese. I don't think its as simplistic as "American Strong Man", its more or a warning shot that the days of China automatically getting their own way may be numbered, and to be honest, that may not be a bad thing; on currency devaluation, tariffs, and whatever the Hell they're doing in the South China Sea, China has had to deal with a lot harrumphing from the West and little else for quite a long time now, mainly because Corporate America has been making shitloads out of offshoring (hello Apple, for example) and doesn't want the State Department rocking the boat.

But, do we really want China stomping around the place doing what they want once they become the world's largest economy? (about 10 years from now at current projections). Might make sense to start thinking about a counter-weight to Chinese hegemony; but this is where Trump's lack of foreign policy nous may bite us all on the arse, Russia isn't likely to be America's new best buddy at China's expense.

Exxon have been losing money, particularly in areas Tillerson deals with, because of the sanctions on Russia since Crimea/Ukraine.

Can't imagine that that will influence the administration's decision process on sanctions at all. Nope. Not one bit.

Also, Rick Fucking Perry? A swivel-eyed Christian extremist of limited intelligence who couldn't remember the name of one of the departments he was going to axe in a primary and became a laughing stock. That department was... The Department Of Energy. The department he's been appointed to is... The Department Of Energy.

Current memes cannot express the... kuasgfukhwjf... kuyquiwyeqkhjwe...

Watching Trump set up his government is like watching England play football. You think they have hit rock bottom but just around the corner they manage to pull out a spectacular new low.

I'm watching the news as the hacking allegations are descending into the most bizarre political conversations I have ever heard.
Obama saying he will hack back and then a government spokesman giving a breakdown of how it could happen.
The world is turning into Theonion.
These are truly the weirdest days I have seen in my life.

Even if the electoral college voted against him, he would still be President, because the Senate would then vote him in.
Just a complete waste of time and a pure protest vote.

If he was below 270, and hillary was also 270 then the house picks the president ( not the senate ).
If they voted Hillary 270 or above then she'd be pres - although I think a civil war might break out.

Nonsense? The FBI now also concur. The more honourable republicans are outraged.

So doesn't that mean that the election should be invalidated? I'd rather see them both try again tbh.. :D

Whatever happens here, everybody is laying their cards on the table and we all get to see who's really in charge.
Trump could walk into the presidency, with an FBI,CIA, Electoral college that have shown themselves impotent.
And he's done it all without even giving a thought.
