Not that either would want a traditional war anyway. Future wars between large nations will be fought with a keyboard and the stock market. The logistics of a proper war between them would be insane. Most of what he wants to do will be reversed or not even completed in 4 years time. A diplomatic black hole.

I mean, retaliatory nuclear war *definitely* fucks the world - so the only rational choice, as far as the survival of the human race is concerned, is to surrender if we get nuked. If the willingness of our political enemies (not the people, remember) to bring overwhelming destructive force to bear upon one part of our planet is met with our willingness to do the same to them "because they did it first" (like a child) then we're fucked as a race.

As for China's nukes not fucking the world, the models suggest just 100 nukes (or, alternatively, conventionally lit firestorms of the same magnitude) would cause "nuclear" winter. So unless you consider nuclear winter an advantageous situation for the existence of life on this planet then I advise reconsideration of your position.
